Just seen this YouGov poll on reintroducing animals back into the UK that are now extinct here. If you could pick one, which would it be?

 

I’d pick the Wolves on the proviso they put them somewhere like Scotland where they will have other apex predators such as Glaswegians on Buckfast and John Leslie to keep them under control.

Reckon boar and wildcats would be the worst ideas on there.  One would almost inevitably lead to some kid or pet getting attacked leading to rewilding as a concept being dragged through the media.  The other would probably be interbred with or outcompeted by domestic and feral cats, which already put too many other species under threat anyway.

 

Voted for Lynx as they'd help manage deer populations and generally stay the fuck away from people.

 

Beavers are already being reintroduced, would also like to see more effort to establish populations of red squirrels. Or maybe pine martens to give greys a predator.
