I think she does have something to do with that side of things, Taryn her name and does live here, a few ships tied up here, I live about 5 minutes from Carnivals office.

The mate does 4 weeks on and 4 off and I wondered why there was Stewards on whatever ship there on, obviously the Chef etc, and a mate said all officers have Stewards, I see some of them now and again as they  come into the Juniper Berry when they're in to see me and a bevvy, you can see the pub from the Carnival building.

Anyway I hope its OK for her as I've not heard anything yet, and hope you get fixed up soon. You might even know a mate or two as they've been on the Liners

not so long ago, one was a ship that took passengers to Antarctica from Montevideo, about 3 years ago.

That Carnival office building is ace. You go in and the inside is like you're in a big ship. Until you go behind the actual office doors and its a shit tip. They offered me a job years ago but I'd been offered one closer to Portsmouth. Good company by all accounts.

Sorry to hear that Ken Robber. You've got it on your CV though and employers lap it up because any job at sea demonstrates discipline etc.

It's weird that 160 deaths in one day seems like "good" news.

Tuesday's have been roughly 2.5 times the total of Monday, so today you might see 400 deaths again. The number of daily deaths is heading in the right direction, but as we release lockdown we will definitely see localised spikes, even if the general numbers are reducing.

If the study showing 50% immunity is correct, certain parts of this country must be close to a level of herd immunity that will exponentially slow the R rate.

What job was that? Was it related to RN experience? Funny you mentioned that as there was a lad in my local the JB a few months ago who was at sea not sure if it was RN or Merchant, from Crosby I think and he was saying he took up a job with them as a tour advisor or something and has never looked back.

If you look over from their offices you can see the JB pub above the walls, so whenever or if  down for the game and all that.

Was you in the RN the same time as Brian Schumacher, excuse me as don't know your age, I was talking to him about 2 years ago and he knew my mate who runs the JB and his brothers from his time in Pompey, before it went tits up to put it mildly.

Not sure who they are, but I posted a NYT article about their vaccine, above.

It looks promising, although it's only been tested on 8 people. They're planning on accelerating the testing over the coming months and hope to be testing in the "thousands" by July.

Moderna is based in Cambridge, according to Wikipedia, so I may have been right when I said they were going to pip Oxford vaccine to the finish line.

That's the other Cambridge, though.

No nothing to do with the RN mate it was a sales manager job. I'm 36 but was in the Navy 01-05 when I was still young. Don't know Brian. It was about 8 years ago I got offered that job at Carnival. It was office based in scum.

You do mean Southampton? No that was well before your time then.

I suppose if it was based in Portsmouth you would of got your Skates on pronto?

Joking aside I've met and worked with some good lads from there, apart from the Naval Yard, I used to hate getting sent there, those fucking steps in the dry Dock, worked all round in there.

There was a big building with a statue on the front I think, all rope stuff inside you could see it from across from that iron ship on the Hard.

That big Iron ship is HMS Warrior.

He's that bloke who repeatedly lied about being a Professor at Imperial and only stopped when they threatened to sue him

He's also a fierce critic of the NHS especially on US tv

It's worth noting that oncology has absolutely nothing to do with epidemeology

Isn't this fella roundly discredited as a chancer?  I even saw his post saying this and he followed it with a "This is just my opinion", so he's basically guessing.  Not worth the light of day.

Yes.

I’ve posted more than once how much of an absolute chancer he is and how many times he’s been wrong on this subject already but his opinions still get posted here regardless. The comments under his tweets are like a cult.

He called the NHS the last bastion of communism for fucks sake.

Yup. he's one of the vultures sniffing round the NHS and a favourite of the Tufton St ghouls

Oxford Uni vaccine doesn't work in monkeys.  £47m well spent.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/global-health/science-and-disease/doubts-oxford-vaccine-fails-stop-coronavirus-animal-trials/

“All of the vaccinated monkeys treated with the Oxford vaccine became infected when challenged as judged by recovery of virus genomic RNA from nasal secretions,” said Dr William Haseltine, a former Harvard Medical School professor who had a pivotal role in the development of early HIV/Aids treatments.

“There was no difference in the amount of viral RNA detected from this site in the vaccinated monkeys as compared to the unvaccinated animals. Which is to say, all vaccinated animals were infected,” he wrote in an article on Forbes.

Jonathan Ball, professor of molecular virology at the University of Nottingham, said that the vaccine data suggests that the jab may not be able to prevent the spread of the virus between infected individuals.

“That viral loads in the noses of vaccinated and unvaccinated animals were identical is very significant. If the same happened in humans, vaccination would not stop spread,” he said

“I genuinely believe that this finding should warrant an urgent re-appraisal of the ongoing human trials of the ChAdOx1 vaccine.”

I'd suggest you read the study, it actually sounds really positive.

And yet many of his predictions have been absolutely spot on. I don't agree with his views on privatisation, but his coverage of this whole thing has been quite refreshing.

He's hardly a chancer if you look at his CV, although he's not a specialist in this area.

He absolutely is a chancer. He’s got no expertise at all in this area. He’s a partner in a private health firm based in the Bahamas (which by a strange coincidence is a tax haven) and before this the only time you’d see him is when he was on TV trying to raise support for privatising the NHS.

His Twitter feed is laughable and his coverage consists of him saying everything is fine and all will be back to normal soon. I’m not surprised some of his predictions seem correct in hindsight since he posts dozens of predictions a week, most wrong. These aren’t looking too good are they?

And this article is the definition of a chancer.
