Anyone who wants to get into the AZ clot kerfuffle can go here:

https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/sciadv.abl8213

It is a freakin slog so here are Clift Notes:

Scientists believe they have found the trigger for the rare blood clots in people who have taken the  Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

A study by a team of researchers from the United States and United Kingdom found a protein in the blood — known as platelet factor 4 (PF4) — that reacts to the adenovirus used by the vaccine that then causes a chain reaction involving the immune system.

This reaction can result in the dangerous clots — a condition known as vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT), or Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia (TTS).

AZ adds - There is a significantly higher likelihood of developing TTS if a person is unvaccinated and develops COVID-19, than if vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccine.

In case there's a link between the vaccine and the players/fans collapsing. It's important to know.

Completely agree. I was once speaking to Cbeebies presenter about the risk of catching cancer from standing next to a microwave. She said that there could be a possible link because someone she know once had a microwave in their house and a few years later they got confirmation of cancer. It's important to know this kinda stuff as the media, microwave manufacturers hide this info so they can keep selling their cancer boxes to the public.

I don’t think there ever was a tiger. The wife had some bloke in for the afternoon whilst the poor put upon husband is out earning a living,  he ate the food and drank all his beer then she makes up this tiger nonsense. He’s a sap for falling for it.

Didn't think of that - the little bastard.

Exercise and activity alone should also be a huge thing with this entire pandemic considering that obesity is said to be one of the main risk factors. Japan have one of the lowest rates of obesity in the world too and one of the healthiest diets, maybe that's helped them a lot recently.

While I am not an expert on the Japanese diet (except for having eaten truckloads of sushi in my time) I can't imagine it, or the overall health of their population, would be too drastically different than South Korea's who are experiencing record cases and deaths the last few day.

If anything their society's overall respect for distancing along with decades of mask wearing might be at play.

Also maybe that their population is 3/4s vaccinated.

Well on your way to being ToryOfTuebrook.

About as logical as the rest of your reasoning.

This is the double-think mind fuck programming. They told you the vaccines were 95% effective. They told you it stopped you getting it and transmitting it. Stop pretending they didn't. You wouldn't have lined up for your jabs if they had told you you could still get it and pass it on.

I'm not sure if you're stupid or lying.

Possibly both.

Er... Vaccines don't "permanently alter" your body either.

Yeah they're supposed to go into your body and every trace of it is supposed to perfectly disappear leaving behind only the good thing they're supposed to do. I don't believe that but yes I could be wrong so you have a point. There's also the other two bits though : a vaccine that works properly would leave behind a permanent good effect on your immune system supposedly, and if there's bad side effects the marks that could leave can also be permanent.

Maybe I can get a Politifact : Half True for this?

If Biden can get one for this then surely I can : https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2021/jul/22/joe-biden/biden-exaggerates-efficacy-covid-19-vaccines/

Thanks for pointing it out though.

That's covid for you. Every time you find a country that seems to have sussed something and you think you might know why, some other similar country comes along and fucks it up. Maybe Japan having closed borders/restricted travel from so many countries has been one of the main things then and we'll only know how they're doing when that's over.

Two points:-

Firstly, if it's important to know, he should have asked someone who might know, rather than some random sports broadcaster.

Secondly, that's not how you arrive at the truth of anything. You have to approach it with an open mind; as I've mentioned above, the first question is"has there been an increase in players collapsing?"

Probably best to read something like this before going to war on vaccines.

I'm not going to war on vaccines, that'd mean I was anti-vaxx. My issue is mainly with covid passes, mandates and other shite that's going on, but these vaccines are probably causing a fair amount of side effects too I think.

But I don't think all vaccines are bad. It'd be better if the pharma corps and health agencies passing them had more good people in charge though so they reached the public in a better state. Maybe then we'd have less side effects.

When will the jabs reduce transmission?

We were told that jabbing kids and the boosters would sort out the case numbers, but they're going up.

Now, that is undeniable.

Vaccines have never prevented transmission - not sure who would have told you that or why.

More importantly, why you would have listened.

"They" also use to tell you the world was flat and blood letting was a cure all. Science is about learning over time.

That is an understandable issue. Given that this is something that has happened once in my lifetime I, personally, am going to wait to see if there are any other similar instances the rest of my life as opposed to assuming it is some planned takeover of my physical liberty. In fact the only thing I am worried about in the US atm is a women's right to choose becoming mandated.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Measles_vaccine

Measles vaccine protects against becoming infected with measles.

This is a great example.

First you would read -

Nearly all of those who do not develop immunity after a single dose develop it after a second dose.[1] When rates of vaccination within a population are greater than 92%, outbreaks of measles typically no longer occur; however, they may occur again if rates of vaccination decrease.

Which makes one realize that if we want to get close to this model we need a similar vaccination rate.

Then, the science kicks in -

The measles vaccine was first introduced in 1963.[8] In that year, the Edmonston-B strain of measles virus was turned into a vaccine by John Enders and colleagues and licensed in the United States.[9][10] In 1968, an improved and even weaker measles vaccine was developed by Maurice Hilleman and colleagues, and began to be distributed, becoming the only measles vaccine used in the United States since 1968.[9][10] About 85% of children globally had received this vaccine.

This is a belter of a twofold - I believe what it is saying is that nearly all of the folks who are currently faffing on about vaccines would have had it. Certainly in the west.

Also, my guess is there will be improved Covid vaccines sooner than 5 years.

Then it nails the argument down:

One dose is about 93% effective while two doses of the vaccine are about 97% effective at preventing measles.[2] Before the widespread use of the vaccine, measles was so common that infection was considered "as inevitable as death and taxes."[15] In the United States, reported cases of measles fell from 3 to 4 million with 400 to 500 deaths to tens of thousands per year following introduction of two measles vaccines in 1963 (both an inactivated and a live attenuated vaccine (Edmonston B strain) were licensed for use, see chart at right).[2][16] Increasing uptake of the vaccine following outbreaks in 1971 and 1977 brought this down to thousands of cases per year in the 1980s. An outbreak of almost 30,000 cases in 1990 led to a renewed push for vaccination and the addition of a second vaccine to the recommended schedule.

So it is a period of 1963 to 1990 to get to the point of your example.

Of course the reality of this example also ignores the fact that measles are very un-deadly.
