Yeah about the same as me (Thursday). I'm not sure what the guidance is, but am just not rushing into it. Feeling all right with it?

Yeah I feel fine mate. Just wondered if we had special powers that meant we wouldn’t need the jab any time soon.

We've just had to pick my 5yr old Grandson up from school due to him coughing.

He's asthmatic and always has a cough this time of year because of cold and damp.

Factor in that all the windows are wide open in the classroom and there's the reason.

The teachers say they have to be cautious which is fair enough, but if that's the policy he's going to be off school an awful lot this Winter.

His test on Sunday night was negative by the way, as was his sisters.

"People in Wales will have to self isolate for 10 days, even if they have been fully vaccinated, if they come into contact with a probable or confirmed case of the Omicron variant of Covid."

So vaccines are the answer, unless you've had a vaccine, and then it is not the answer. How do they expect people to just take 10 days off often with no pay?

I guess this supports my point. It's just no big deal wearing masks for a few weeks till we find out just what this strain brings. If it turns out it doesn't hospitalise people and is so contagious it might wipe out delta, great. However even if it proves to be say 50% less deadly, but can evade the current immunity, then cutting the spread has been a good thing and we need to keep it in check till we can have a booster to fuck it off. Wearing a mask is crap, but it's just not that big a deal for most people.

They can apply for the Isolation support schemes or Isolation discretionary payment through your local authority.

£750 for a fortnight. Just seen that just now.

Also just been informed that our eldest (who basically has a cold) has to go for a test and if he's positive we're all stuck in the house for ten days.

Yeah, that would all make perfect sense if masks made one iota of difference.

Actually this only applies to cases of the new variant. There are none in Wales yet, so I will be shit out of luck to miss our Christmas Party on Friday.

Just remember, you don't wear a mask to protect yourself, you do it to protect others. Socialism.

I've seen that quite a lot, but nobody's ever adequately explained how I can protect other people from a disease I don't have.

Because there is a time lapse between having it and knowing you've got it.

I found this video interesting on ONS figures. I'd recommend watching the whole thing if you're interested in covid data, the part that interests me most though is from shortly after 16 mins. Would be good if we could ever find out what's going on there with those peaks.

Here's a rumble link in case that video gets taken down like he fears too : https://rumble.com/vpfeop-analysing-covid-vaccine-efficiency-and-safety-statistics.html

I also don't think that masks make much of a difference, but don't see how having to put one on is that big a deal, especially in winter. If you don't have to wear one almost all day at work, as some people do, that is like the smallest inconvenience.

So if I don't know I've got it, because it's not causing any symptoms (eg a cough), what's the mechanism for me spreading it to other people?

Breathing, talking, clearing your throat, sneezing, take your pick.

Anyone who has to talk to you face to face no doubt has to sigh in exasperation dealing with you so hopefully they're all wearing masks or you'll be riddled.

Because you can have it without showing symptoms

Yes, I know, I'm asking how you can spread it to others without, for instance, coughing upon them.

Sneezing sounds like a symptom to me. How would the simple act of breathing produce the kind of droplets that people claim spread coronavirus?
