This is a backbreaker for the Tories.  4100 cases in a day, now a bank holiday weekend...

We expected a small spike though, lets pray its a small one

Just walked through my town to grab some food and it's absolutely heaving here.

Really don't think the numbers will look good in a couple weeks from this bank holiday weekend.

Sunshine, bars open, 3 day weekend. Recipe for disaster

Hopefully case numbers won't be a problem, it's hospital numbers that's the real measure. This weekend is going to be carnage though, especially Sunday. Then it's half term next week so high streets will be bonkers.

The good thing is that it's predicted to be warm weather this weekend, so most socialising will be outdoors.

As long as the vaccines do protect against the latest variant we should be ok?

To quote Kwarteng this morning on Today ‘fingers crossed’.

Them’s the cabinet minster’s words, not mine.

Weird, because that makes them sound like a bunch of chancers that haven't got a fucking clue?

I know, mad Isn’t it?

You’d think they’d have a fucking grasp on the finer detail by this point, or any fucking semblance of an idea or a basic level of competence.

But, I guess the Great British public don’t want to talk about this, it’s time to move on and if you don’t believe that you’re doing this country down, you unpatriotic commie.

Isn't testing at an all time high though.

Surge testing like fuck in areas, schoolkids getting tests twice a week.

Surely as long as hospital admissions and deaths are not spiking up then it is ok...more people who get it and are not ill the lower the overall problem, seems to be mainly the young and healthy getting it and the old and vaccinated are ok...

Guanzhou, a city with 20 million people is locking down parts of the city because they are seeing a surge in cases. You are basically locked inside until you have been tested by door to door testing and given the all clear. The surge is 20 infected in the last week.

no wonder they are much better at containing the virus than any other country. It is very much debatable whether this way of living is better but I don’t think it is debatable that for a specific instance like above, they are much better suited to get it under control.

Fucking thieves. No doubt this will be met- if they can be bothered- with a statement saying, 'Patel and Mirza reject this version of events.' And our 'fearless, investigative journalists' won't dig any deeper. Needless to say, the Taxpayers' Alliance will never have anything to say about it.

Numbers in the top left corner say they are most likely not.

It's still not far off 35mil people with a good chance of getting the new variant if they're not careful, but hopefully you're right. As that number goes down maybe this will finally start passing.
