I've just been looking at the website. You can see how many people are contributing in each area. I've just looked for Liverpool, west lancs ( for @Sugar Ape) and Halton (for @Jenson ). Liverpool has less than 1% of the population reporting and the estimate of people reporting is less than double the number of people reporting. So I'm guessing one positive test in an area over a week or so really distorts the figures. Although it was pretty static over the summer when the figures were down.
