Gove is such a horrible, slippery, little fucker.

Almost blaming Burnham for trying to help out low paid workers.

He’s truly vile.

Gove seems to of limited his exposure as much as possible. He in my opinion is the worst of them. Where the royals are reptilians I see him as some kind of shape shifting gecko, he whispers in the ears of his masters whilst clinging to the back of their throne licking his own eyeballs. Fucking lesser lizard wormtail.

Yeah, he truly has his tentacles everywhere. He’s responsible for schools being the exam factories/ideological imprinting factories they are now, a criminal justice system where it’s more financially viable to plead guilty than innocent and access to legal aid all but fucked. He’s front and centre for Brexit and the destruction that’ll bring. Truly the ideologue of these journalists masquerading as politicians whilst doing the bidding of ideologically bankrupt disaster capitalists.

I genuinely hate them all, from the ideologues, without ideology ironically, like Gove and Cumming to the fuckers with no backbone like Dowden who’ll just do the bidding.

Cunts to a man.

Really striking that even in northern Ireland you've got two rival leaders who are working together to protect the country despite all their differences, yet here you've got nothing but arguments and point scoring. Tory MPs turning on each other in GM today.

The Welsh, Northern Irish and Scottish leaders for any other flaws they may have, clearly all care about their countries and their people.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, ours care nothing for the country or its people, all they care about is money and themselves. They'd sell it all to Russia or China for a tenner.

I'll never forgive northerners who voted for these cunts.

Same here, I remember distinctly the look on the face of a guy I used to really respect as he, guiltily, told me he’d voted blue during 2019.

This is a guy who was was labour through and through, working class and proud, Union man, who I’d knocked on doors with before, he’d gone to the dark side for whatever reason.

I’ll never forget that look, he knew he’d betrayed himself and others and I hope the fucker is aware of this every single day.

(Reuters) - British police forces have been granted access to details of people who have been told to self-isolate under the government’s ‘test and trace’ system, the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) said late on Saturday.

A spokesman for the department said it agreed with the National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC) that officers could have access on a case-by-case basis to information on whether a specific individual has been notified to self-isolate.

“The memorandum of understanding ensures that information is shared with appropriate safeguards and in accordance with the law. No testing or health data is shared in this process,” the spokesman said in an emailed statement.

The development was reported earlier by Sky News, which also cited an NPCC statement saying police will continue encouraging voluntary compliance but will enforce regulations and issue fixed penalty notices (FPN) when needed.

“Where people fail to self-isolate and refuse to comply, officers can issue FPNs and direct people to return to self-isolation. Officers will engage with individuals to establish their circumstances, using their discretion wherever it is reasonable to do so,” the NPCC statement said.

The test and trace system, which Prime Minister Boris Johnson promised would be world beating, has seen setbacks including a glitch identified earlier this month that delayed the upload of nearly 16,000 cases into computer systems, including for contact tracers.

In recent weeks, the COVID-19 infection rate has risen sharply in Britain with an accelerating second wave, prompting Johnson and other regional leaders to introduce tighter restrictions and local lockdowns.

Britain has one of the highest death rates from the virus in Europe and previously suffered the worst economic contraction of any leading nation from the outbreak.

It seems to me that story is there to either scare people to stay at home or get to pressure the government about the erosion of civil liberties. What's 100% certain is the police won't be arsed checking up on this type of thing unless someone grasses someone else up. It's a complete non-story.

Not quite true about NI. The leaders of the DUP and Sinn Fein used local football spectator guidelines as a petty point scoring battle over the weekend and are constantly chirping nonsense at eachother on social media.

Whilst the leaders of the five parties did eventually come to an agreement over new lockdown rules last Thursday, members on both sides have spoken out against since then and aren't as together as your post suggests.

Don’t think so, never had any reason to believe he was, and I wouldn’t want to cast aspersions.

Course not.

Just trying to understand the mindset, I know someone similar and of course it was all about Brexit in this case.  It's like previously rational people lost all reason in the last 4 years.

Mad.

No full lockdown, only some small partial and localised, but it was all about T&T being used properly and effectively.

We and America gave them the expertise and helped them prepare, at great expense, for this post SARS.

Not the full story, but compliance and early societal adoption helped, but mainly that they had laser focus on people during the first few weeks and acted decisively.

To paraphrase ‘It’s better to severely inconvenience 1% of the population for two/three weeks than it is to inconvenience a whole population.’ Or something like that the deputy PM said.

They got it right because they knew you isolate the virus through breaking transmission trains.

The fact we, and, America gave them this information and training was the wider point. Madness that we ignored our own specialist expertise in exchange for political idealogical grandstanding.

Unconscionable, really.

Decent read.

Talks about the balancing act and the difficulty with different approaches/ideas/needs etc.

Interesting point this about the restrictions:

Both young and old are suffering, he says, from not being able to meet up with people. "This degree of isolation is not allowed in prisons under human rights legislation."

About a thousand fewer reported cases in Scotland compared to the usual figures this week. Then there's this on the Gov website-

We were notified late last week of a testing capacity issue with the UK Government Lighthouse facility in Glasgow.

This has meant around 64,000 tests from across the UK, including Scotland, will be rerouted this weekend (Fri-Sun) to other testing sites in the UK and Northern Ireland, including tests from our physical testing sites, for example Regional Tests sites.   It is important to note that the majority of these tests are still well within the 24 and 48 hour timeframe for results albeit we do expect to see an increase in the level of positives on Monday and Tuesday when the results are reported.

The Scottish Government is urgently trying to establish with the UK Government what exactly is causing the delay in testing but this is mainly due to demand from out with Scotland.

I dunno Mick, he doesn't sound too fearsome here....

“I’ve said to them now that if they can’t provide the science for us, in the next three weeks, then we will take a decision after the first review period and if they can’t provide the evidence then it will be for local discretion and we will decide whether to reopen the gyms.”

Not really true about Scotland either but then Section does like to make these uninformed generalisations about other countries from time to time.
