What does it say about the country that Boris Johnson has achieved the status in life he's achieved. Private education that hard wires the expectancy of success, nods and winks and favours from family and friends, fucks up every single job he ever does, is fired for lying, makes up newspaper stories, gets a woman's prison sentence extended with some throwaway comments, lies, cheats, ends up the leader of the country, lies and cheats some more, people die.

Ths system created boris johnson.

The infection tion rate is going to explode with these protests in london.

Maybe not. It's not millions of people is it? It's probably not a great deal of difference to when people are at the beach. And you would hope any symptomatic people are staying at home. I'd sooner it wasn't all happening (not because of the cause, but because I think while we are at this point we can live without demonstrations), but it is happening, so you have to hope symptomatic people stay at home (and those who live with symptomatic people) and this is no different to someone catching a bus or a train to work.

My sister-in-law is a classroom assistant in Bolton. Her school reopened this week. Now they’re having a meeting on Monday as it looks like they’re shutting down again because of the increase in the R number in the NW.

I think Halton and knowsley have already canned it.

This from the covid app, which has 3.8m users but I think has access to government data too. Isn't this much higher than government figures? In fact bigger than government weekly figures?

It's quite a bit higher than the ONS figures earlier in the week, yes. They estimated (I think) between 22-56K new infections per week and settled on an average of 39K, the figure above would be over 65K. New confirmed (by testing) infections are running at about 11-12K a week according to the daily figures the DHSC release.

I might start following this. You would like to think now testing is open to all we'd be counting all but the asymptotic cases in the government daily figures.

If you're interested, the data's been compiled and charted here and also broken down by country- https://coronavstats.co.uk. The main chart also has a rolling 7 day average for infection and deaths.

The DHSC Tweet the new figures each at https://twitter.com/DHSCgovuk. The time's variable but it's usually between 2 and 6 pm daily.

Inspired by the quick maths on this thread... I tried to look at how fast the infections would reduce with an R Rate of 0.95. Without taking into account that the numbers falling reduces the R Rate anyway, you would still see the back of any level of infection within just 70 days.

How do they know the rate of infection has gone up in the Northwest if theres no regular testing? My sister is a nurse in the Royal and still hasn't been tested.

It's skewed one way because they're only testing symptomatic people, and another way because there are people infected but totally asymptomatic. It's like pin the tail on the donkey.

Again its ridiculous. The royal only has one floor open for elderly who have had falls, alzheimer's etc, the rest is empty.

Heres the foundations for whats really happening and why Covid will be the catalyst, enjoy the read, and in the next 10 years, our lives as we use to know it are soon to be over.

Imagine going the match in the future but having to have your digital health id checked and it says you are not vaccinated and so cannot get into the ground or be around groups of people? Well its on its way. The company is in Manchester. You can go visit them!

We're not really that further advanced from when this all started are we.

Not sure when it started.

Not sure exactly where it started.

Not sure if it was created in a lab or a wet market.

Not sure exactly how many it's killing.

Not sure why some people are more at risk than others.

Not sure if anyone who's had it is now immune.

Not sure if the testing is 100% accurate.

Not sure when it will end.

China has ruled out the wet market.  The virus didn't show up in anything tested there.
