A source told me that the current front bench of the Tory party are a group of power mad sociopaths whose sole motivation is greed.

The BBC allows the Kuenssberg method of a "source" told me. She is a willing mouthpiece for the Tories and it feels the BBC is becoming the same

Or, you could run with the line that Private Eye was hinting at that Johnson and Cummings put together a team of weaklings who would be happy to be in the cabinet and wouldn't ruffle feathers during the Brexit transition period, hoping that there would be little kick back or spine shown by any of them so they, AJ & DC, could get through their warped version of Brexit, with 'their people' doing the important stuff in Brussels.

Thing is you can't plan for a global pandemic, can you...

It seems to me the media have pretty much moved on from the Cummings news. Nissan and easyJet have taken over

It's like he's been denamed. They are all referring to him at PM's aid now, rather than Dominic Cummings.

This Newsnight thing could be a blessing, she's too smart not to know the implications of what she was saying and clearly couldn't have acted alone. The BBC must still have tonnes of propers journalist's who have been trodded on for years and they will be chomping at the bit to get their voice heard. Seeing Cuntberg setting the tone on this episode could be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

Who's your money on folks China, US or Russia?

The biggest story of last year was Hong Kong. All the power of the Chinese army couldn't stop it. What could you do to make ordinary people stay at home?

The PM's boss would be more accurate.

I think newsnight is relatively independent of the main BBC news team and editorial line. Same with panorama.

Apparently that's just normal, nothing to see here.

Apparently it's the website the contact tracers are trying to use.  From Telegraph:

NHS Test and Trace workers have been unable to log into the new website on the morning of its launch, the Department of Health confirmed.

Yeah, I knew about that. The asked some Tory MP on sky and he said "you know as well as I do it's not unusual for systems to go down". I'm assuming they don't bother with 99.999% availability and SLA's.

I'm surprised they didn't ask Dave U.

I've never bought into this two metres crap from the World Health Organisation.  Especially for indoor places.

https://edition.cnn.com/world/live-news/coronavirus-pandemic-05-28-20-intl/h_e408bf0eb7d6243e0045585db9938ccc

“Evidence suggests that (the novel coronavirus) is silently spreading in aerosols exhaled by highly contagious infected individuals with no symptoms,” wrote Chia Wang of National Sun Yat-sen University in Taiwan and Kimberly Prather and Dr. Robert Schooley of the University of California, San Diego.

“Increasing evidence for (the coronavirus) suggests the six foot WHO recommendation is likely not enough under many indoor conditions where aerosols can remain airborne for hours, accumulate over time, and follow air flows over distances further than six feet,” they wrote.

The three experts, who are specialists in chemistry and infectious diseases, said aerosols from breathing and speaking “can accumulate, remain infectious in indoor air for hours, and be easily inhaled deep into the lungs.” That makes wearing masks all the more essential, they said, even when people are keeping their distance.

Fucking pathetic. Durham Police the highest new entry in the coronacunts thread.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2020/05/28/dominic-cummings-did-breach-coronavirus-guidelines-durham-police/

Investigation concludes Boris Johnson's most senior aide did commit a 'minor breach' of the lockdown rules when he drove to Barnard Castle

On that one, the Barnard Castle trip, it was always going to be a minor breach and, at worst, a reminder of what the rules are and a "don't do it again" telling off.

That's what made the unwillingness to hold his hands up seem even more bizarre. It was done to try and save his position, but there'd probably have been fewer people calling for his head if he'd have just apologised and admitted he'd ballsed up.

Looks like they are dealing with new complaints, and have had to admit they fined two people for making a trip from London to Durham a week after Cummings. So how come he ain’t getting fined? Supine bastards.

Police fined two people for travelling from London to Durham on 8 April

Vikram Dodd

Durham police today said they fined two people for travelling hundreds of miles from London to their area during the coronavirus lockdown.

The news comes as a fresh statement from Durham police is expected as soon as today, following their examination of claims of sightings of Dominic Cummings in the Durham area, and whether lockdown rules had been broken.

A spokesperson for Durham police confirmed the fines were issued on 8 April against two people from different households who travelled together from London to Peterlee, in County Durham. That trip is about 260 miles and came just over a week after the prime minister’s key aide decided to drive with his wife and child from his London home to his parents’ farm, fearing being struck down by coronavirus.

The trip by Cummings has led to no action by police, and its revelation on Friday by the Guardian and Daily Mirror led to calls for Cummings’ resignation, but he has maintained his actions were lawful and not in breach of the lockdown.

Cummings also admitted to a trip on 12 April to a beauty spot, Barnard Castle, with his wife and child. He said on Monday he had been testing his eyesight and fitness to drive after being struck down by the virus.

Durham police say since the original news stories, they have received further claims and complaints from the public and are examining that information.

Cummings said he travelled to ensure childcare in case he and his wife were struck down by the virus, and claims an exemption to the stay at home order issued by his boss, the prime minister, allowed him to make the trip. Many disagree and have called for his resignation. The new statement from Durham police is eagerly awaited.

Durham Police taking no further action.

We need a revolution. Power to the pro-maskers!
