Coronavirus

(Reuters) - Associated British Foods Plc (ABF.L) intends to close its 189 Primark stores in the United Kingdom from Sunday night after cancelling all new orders from suppliers as demand shrinks due to the coronavirus outbreak, the Financial Times reported.

The fashion retailer has cancelled all new clothing orders from suppliers such as factories in India and Bangladesh but will continue to honour orders already shipped or delivered to Primark warehouses or stores, the FT said here on Sunday.

I got this note from Gordon (Pistonbroke), from his hospital bed in Bielefeld, and he asked me to pass it on to "the lads":

After a rough night I'm feeling a bit better, being on drips with liquid medicine is having an effect.  Had all tests done for corona and have to wait 48 hours or thereabouts for the results.  8 people were taken to the city hospital with the same symptoms, but none of us has a high fever.  So we are all lined up to have a camera shoved down our airways to check on them and lungs. That is planned for today as I'm nil by mouth. I'll let you know more once I get the results from both the camera and the corona test...

Fingers crossed for you PB, good luck.

It's not as if there's any other option at the moment other than the Tories right now, so it's not surprising they're polling decent. The opposition is appalling, wrapped up in some self-indulgent, drawn out leadership process that seems to have died a death in the midst of all this. Why would anyone care what they have to say.

The obvious bog roll biffs etc deserve criticism. But, I don't like the rush to criticise every single person who buys in bulk. Questions to be asked:

Was there still bacon left or did he buy it all?

Was it all for him?

Does he buy this much bacon at the start of every week as he has a cafe/food truck/can etc?

Despite everyone calling out people for bulk buying? I fully assume this idiot is a selfish prick. If that makes me a bad person then so be it.

Mr Bean is on ITV4 for anyone looking for a smile.

Watching Mr Bean makes you a bad person.

Bulk buying isn't the same as unnecessary panic buying.

I could understand it if he was buying other things but he clearly isn't its selfish buying at it's worse

I wouldn't be so confident. You'd expect something like that to be headline news but I've not seen it mentioned anywhere else apart from here.

There's plenty of journos talking about this on twitter and some MP's too, the source seems to be respected and it looks like it's almost accepted that Cummings has had it with this one. Even Dan Hodges thinks he'll be off :

That would be heartening were it not for the fact that Dan Hodges has never got a single thing right in his entire lifetime, so I fully expect Cummings to become prime minister by the end of the day.

The images and videos on Twitter on people shopping/going about like normal is really, really tragic.

I honestly give up.

Messaging is very confused, the population in individualistic societies will instantly excuse themselves from obligation. Each week the government is gradually attempting to deliver a stronger message (which is ignored by many) and then playing catch up the following week. Please adopt social distancing followed by we strongly advise social distancing followed by right we're closing down pubs but go for a walk in the countryside.

The message should now be stay in your homes or you'll be escorted home down the barrel of a gun.

I just saw someone on twitter say Cummings is like Bannon was with Trump, can remember saying the same on here a while back and that he'd probably be gone eventually because he'd be too insane for the government to deal with. I still agree with that and think it's just a matter of time.

I didn't expect him to be "mass culling during a global pandemic" insane though.
