My lad works for his mates Security firm and has just started a short term contract at Sony. The security work has already been hit regarding sport, concerts etc.

At Sony they are apparently just going to move people into separate rooms.

My missus is will probably work from home soon, I will work but people’s finances will put the stop on any unnecessary building work.

This is the problem mate, everything slowly but surely will dry up. And we're so much at the mercy of large corporations, whose only responsibility is to make money for their shareholders, that they'll batton down the hatches and then it'll screw the rest of us. The trickle effect economically is frightening. That added to many banks had started giving 100% mortgages again, likely drops in house prices pushing people into negative equity and it's easy to see this could end up a bigger mess than 2008 and that's before we count the toll on human life.

Indeed, I imagine he has folk working around the clock so it's a US firm that gets a cure first, then he'll hold the World to ransom.

It would be a fucking delight for the world to work together and get solution we all take for free and fuck that orange, white eyed cunt right in the arse.

What do you think the odds are of someone who tests negative today getting the virus a month from now?

I think there odds are better on them having the virus a month from now than there is getting a test off the cunts running this country.

I would bet we’re going to see plenty of social security and state help sprout up miraculously, particularly in comparison to the decade of austerity. We know the funds are there, we know they’re often only spent when there’s an incentive and/or on areas which are to the benefit of a small percentage. What’s that incentive? Possible huge swathes of people left with no stake in society, carrying a killer virus there’s no current vaccine for and having the potential to be in riot mode. Even if you’re a pure tory cunt at the top of the system, are you going to want such hordes thinking “Well, if you don’t want to help me, fuck you?” You want them playing ball, following the rules and isolating themselves.

Not dissimilar to the situation with having millions of men who know how to use weapons and have spent years fighting on the ground after WW2 playing its part in the creation of the welfare state and NHS, I suspect this is going to see our masters suddenly discover funds we’ve been told for years simply aren’t available. Not necessarily because they want to, certainly because they have to.

We’re also, inevitably, going to see many, many selfish, ignorant twats demanding and loudly criticising any absence of state support for themselves and their personal situation via socialist policies, without ever mentioning that word unless it’s to decry its terrible evils. In the post.

In the post.

I work in the local social welfare office here and it was mayhem on Friday after the schools and creches were closed down. Place was full of people having to make a claim for benefit. It's only going to get worse as the hospitality sector collapses.  Years of our Dept being neglected means we have nowhere the staff to cope with the demand placed on us, not to mention the risk to all of us having to deal with potential carriers  Really feel for all these people who are suddenly out of work.

It’s absolutely horrendous mate. Heart-rending stuff. And, like with the NHS, all too easy to forget the impact on people like yourself working through an impossible and highly stressful situation. Hope you can get plenty of rest at home and recharge to get you through it. You can only do what you can do and will be making a huge difference to the people you can get to.

Thanks mate. Due to having Kidney disease I've been placed away from the public (i normally deal with part time workers so it's more paperwork based anyway) I'm not feeling 100% this weekend (kidney issue) so I'm taking a few days off.  I've had a chat with my boss and she told me to stay away this week till i get over this.

People are being advised to apply online if they can and i can see the office eventually being closed to the public and just working through postal/phone etc. It's just too dangerous now.

Look after yourself Dec. Can’t help others unless you’re on solid ground mate. All the best.

Possibly. Story I’m getting was it was inside ASDA though. Comes through a fairly reliable source. Stabbed in side and police and ambulance attended. About 3ish this afternoon.

The Asda story cane from this chap who is somebody my mum tweets with regularly and she says he’s a straight bat, not a bullshitter. I did a search and there are some other tweets suggesting it was her handbag he was going for.
