@DanishFooty: Former Danish footballer Thomas Kahlenberg (played for Brøndby, Auxerre, Wolfsburg) has been infected with COVID-19.

@DanishFooty: Apparently Kahlenberg was recently in Amsterdam where he was infected by the virus and later met with Brøndby director Ole Palmå, Brøndby defender Joel Kabongo and others. They have all been quarantined in 14 days.

@DanishFooty: News incoming that Thomas Kahlenberg was infected at a party at former Schalke and Sevilla midfielder Christian Poulsen. Poulsen is also quarantined.

@DanishFooty: Christian Poulsen is currently the assistant manager at Ajax. Will not be able to go to matches due to the COVID-19. Note that Poulsen hasn't been diagnosed with the disease.

We've a doctor over here in Ireland who was in Italy last week. He told the Irish equivalent of nhs where he was but they still gave him the all clear to work a full shift in the most over crowded hospital in Ireland. Turns out he,and his nurse wife and his 2 kids have it.

The sheer incompetence of people in charge is mind boggling

That right there is why there’s now little point doing anything much other than mentally preparing to potentially get a bout of it and hopefully see it off.

The chance to avoid it through anything other than dumb luck was pretty much missed when people were booking flights out of China and moving freely when doing so.

He should have also just self quarantined given the nature of his work and knowing he came from that region. So he's a stupid fucking cunt too.

Can’t help but think that is a calculated attempt to get the inevitable over and done with.

"We are concerned that some countries have either not taken this seriously enough, or have decided there is nothing they can do," WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Thursday.

"This is not a drill, this is not a time to give up, this is not a time for excuses, this is a time for pulling out all the stops."

Here's a suggestion : declare it a pandemic already.

We've now passed 100,000 cases, official records are showing it almost there and there'll be way more undetected yet all over the place.

If China aren't bullshitting with their records they're doing well now apparently and some areas are reporting no new cases. Maybe we should be looking to replicate some of the steps they've taken in whatever way we can if we're serious about containing this, or genuinely slowing it.

Genuine talk of all schools shutting, which will also have a massive impact on business. I couldn't see this happening at first, but they have to try and control the flow of people getting it otherwise it will just be absolute carnage. The healthcare professional to patient needs to be managed, as does the funeral director to dead body ratio.

No talk of containment now though, just delay.

The cat is out of the bag, they are just trying to convince people it's a pig.

I wouldn't believe a thing that comes out if China about this

Yeah that's the main issue, finding it hard to believe. The other thing is even if they have managed to clear so much of it up they could be the biggest country that ever managed to bring it under control, only to find that those that spread it elsewhere ended up creating a situation where it got sent back over as a world pandemic kicked off.

Anyway we'll see what governments do over the next week or two I suppose, because it won't take long to reach a China type situation (as in rapid spread not 80k so quickly) in places like the US if there's no big changes shortly.

Apparently it's mutated into a milder virus... natural selection and all that.

A milder virus spreads a lot more effectively as people aren't keeling over willy nilly

In other, more believable news, it's mutated with aids so it's now covaids-19. which is good covaids and covaids-20 which is bad covaids

Details of how you catch it are a little sketchy at the moment but fingering cats is thought to be high risk

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/06/police-issues-warning-against-coronavirus-fraudsters-in-uk

Fraudsters have been quick to latch on to the coronavirus outbreak, with fake “Centers for Disease Control” emails and other scams already tricking the UK public out of £800,000, according to the police.

The National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB) on Friday issued an urgent scam warning after identifying 21 cases of fraud involving coronavirus in February.

Ten of the frauds involved desperate buyers of face masks, with one person paying £15,000 for masks that were never delivered.

Other frauds involve emails and texts purporting to be from research organisations affiliated with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization.

The NFIB said: “They claim to be able to provide the recipient with a list of coronavirus infected people in their area. In order to access this information, the victim needs to click on a link, which leads to a malicious website, or is asked to make a payment in bitcoin.”

It added that it expected to receive many more reports of fraud as the coronavirus spread globally.

The advice to consumers is not to click on links or attachments in suspicious emails, and never respond to unsolicited messages and calls that ask for personal or financial details.

Individuals can report fraud or cybercrime to Action Fraud any time using its online reporting tool at actionfraud.police.uk.
