Man Utd (H) Premier League - 19/1/20

Recommended Posts

Id like to see us playlike we did at Leicester, take the game to them and dont let them dictate the pace of the game. Of course, that means we must be on our game and not give the ball away and missing shots on goal.

Make it so, reds!

No Rashford? Won't be surprised if he's suddenly available tomorrow.

Had quick look on Pogba’s twitter account to see if he’d posted anything about the game, but he’s maintaining radio silence. The Adidas bit on his account did amuse me though, given his banner picture....

Ah, you couldnt make it up, could you? Apparently solskjaer is trying to 'taunt' Jurgen by saying we arent a great team. How he says that given the utter shite he's served up bemuses me.

Reminds me of Moyes at Everton, throw the odd dig at the Kopites and their fans are a lot more forgiving of their own team being turd.

I would like to see patience, possession, slow build-up play and then faster tempo in the final third. Grind them out and lactate the play.

This is easy to masturbate to.

This isn't going to be as easy as everyone thinks. I think we play better when we have 2 games per week. Even though fatigue can be an issue, the momentum can be more important. I wouldn't be surprised to see us struggling to get in the flow in the first half. I'll go a 2-1 win but crap performance. And that'll do, Donkey. That'll do.

I am going to the game. I'll probably go into town first, drink copious quantities of a fermented vegetable drink (and not even need the toilet); fight with some army punks; shag some hotties then casually stroll to the ground.

I'll be leading the singing so don't worry about the atmosphere. Have a listen. You'll be able to hear me. I am the one with the deep masculine baritone.

It's the cunts cup final. Win it and like you say, he'll bang on about it until the end of the season. Lose it and he'll just bang on about having a young team and rebuilding. Thankfully, just about everybody in football knows he's a shit cunt out of his depth.

He is. I loved it when we beat Cardiff 6-3 and they asked him who he thought would win the title and he just did a passive aggressive "couldn't care less" then flounced off.

I just hope that theres no decent manager available in the summer and they either stick with him or just appoint another short term manager with no real plan of how to take them forward.

Just hope the Glazers carry on for another 5 years. The spoilt bastard fans will be getting their Norwich scarves out again soon.

Looks like they aren't signing Bruno Fernandes as they wont pay Sporting the £68m they want and they said no to a deal with unrealistic add ons like Man Utd winning the CL and Fernandes winning the Ballon D'or.

I always knew if I set a good example it would eventually catch on.

    • “He’s cumbersome and sluggish yet his pace saves him” ...Makes as much sense as a bloke pushing 60 still wearing an earring
    • Charlie Nicholas has offered a somewhat critical view regarding the form of Virgil Van Dijk this season.

The Sky Sports pundit believes the Dutchman has not been at the same level as he was last year.

Football 365 via Sky Sports reported the former Arsenal striker as saying:

"Has he been as good as last year? No.

“He looks cumbersome and sluggish at times, but his pace can rescue him.

“He has pace and purpose on the ball, while having a great awareness of danger He never jumps in and rarely dives in.

“If someone is really quick, they may have a chance, or if a player is tricky, they could send him the wrong way, but he stands up and asks them to do something, meaning the player would normally lay it off.   "He has an authority within the game."

While thinking that Van Dijk has not been up to his elite standards this campaign, Nicholas does not doubt his ability and still believes he should be in the Premier League team of the season.

“Is he as good as what people think?   "Yes, he is that good. People are scared to test him. Little balls in behind can make him vulnerable, but who isn’t?

“He is a leader and has such a response of being on the ball, whether it be 10 yards or 60.   "He is good in the air both in attack and defence, he has to be in the team of the season.”

    • OK. Let's try the debating thing.   The first point about "sound economic judgement" is demonstrable bullshit.  In 2010 when David Cameron's coke-addled fag (in the public school sense of the word) launched a decade of cuts to jobs, pay, pensions, services and benefits he did so "to deal decisively with our country's record debts". https://www.theguardian.com/uk/2010/jun/22/emergency-budget-full-speech-text   After 9 years of Tory rule, the National Debt had increased by £760 billion. https://www.statista.com/statistics/281761/national-debt-of-the-united-kingdom-uk/   By the Tories' own measure, their handling of the economy has been a calamitous failure.   The second point about "realistic social responsibility" is baffling. What the fuck does it mean? I would argue that, realistically, a wealthy country has a social responsibility to provide decent jobs, decent and sufficient housing, proper pensions, investment in technologies to minimise and mitigate climate change, efficient public services, free access to good quality education and  - of course  - universal, comprehensive healthcare, free at the point of use. Presumably, based on their track record, Tories would have a significantly different interpretation of that phrase.   If @CurtisJones hasn't skulked off to lurk for a couple more years, like some neoliberal cicada, maybe he could clarify what he means by "realistic social responsibility".
