Thought our youngsters acquitted themselves well in that first half. Bit dodgy at the back at times but that is to be expected. As a young player you can hide up front, not as a defender and they are up against players with lots of games under the belts. Adrian was immense on a few occasions to bail them out.

Overall we had 56% possession and it showed at times, pushing Everton back. Williams, Jones and Elliott looking decent, Minamino has only had four training sessions with the club but looks a handful when he runs at defenders, just need more intelligent players running into the space for him to pass too. Thought young Larouci played very well having come on for the injured Milner, hopefully nothing too bad.

Imagine being an Everton fan and you're playing your best team against youngsters and you defend deep and hope to play on the break, you'd be livid. If Ancelotti turns their fortunes around I'd be more than surprised, they're fucking shit.

Williams and Jones have done alright. Elliott needs to do a bit more. Phillips and Larouci look a bit shaky. Chiravella isn't very mobile but has looked fairly tidy on the ball.

I actually agree with Keown. Minamino has done okay, but looks a tiny bit off the pace. I think he'd be better from deeper and wider, letting Origi lead the line instead.

Think Everton might still nick it if they continue to create decent chances, but we've done alright so far.

Phillips is very much out of his depth. Otherwise, the performances have been ok. And the team selection immediately justified by Milner getting a muscle injury.

By the replay and that his boot was half off as he was subbed, it looked like a rolled ankle. Your general point stands though, more competitive fixtures increases the likelihood of this kind of thing occurring.
