Apparently, we have a team of mathematicians.

A team of them!

One of them was featured on the first of the Royal Institution Christmas Lectures 2019 (still available on BBC iPlayer) explaining what they do. It was actually quite interesting. (And it was hosted by Dr Hannah Fry, so that's all good, too.)

Bumcunt here,

Been having a few moments of clarity, and this post reaches across the FF/GF divide, so it is homeless.

But what links the following clubs:

  • Zenit
  • Fenerbahce
  • Zurich
  • Molde
  • CSKA
  • Maccabi Tel Aviv
  • Besiktas
  • Rubin Kazan
  • Partizan Belgrade
  • Dynamo Kiev
  • Spartak Moscow
  • Basel
  • BATE Borisov
  • Crvena Zvezda
  • Shakhtar Donetsk
  • Galatasarary

I'll tell you.

They are all clubs, the main ones, who play in the CL but are from non-EU (or EEC) countries.

As for past winners who were not in the EU (or EEC) (1957 it began) at the time they won it:

  • Steaua Bucharest won the European Cup in 1986 (Romania joined the EU in 2007)
  • Red Star (Crvena Zvezda) won the European Cup in 1991 (Serbia still not in EU)
  • Celtic won the European Cup in 1967 (Britain joined EU in 1973)
  • United won the European Cup in 1968 (As above)
  • Real Madrid won 5 European Cups until Spain joined in 1986.
  • Benfica won 2 European Cups in 1961 and 1962 (Portgual joined EU with Spain in 1986)

Take from that what you will.

I don't like the look of that first list.

Can’t find a thread so I’ll put it here.

I cannot fucking stand Bruce “Brucie” Grobbelaar. Hated him when he played for us. Hated him when he left and hate him now with his witch doctor curse story he nicked off Barry Fry.

Wish he’d fuck off.

I have spoken.

Why did you hate him when he played for us?

I’ll ask around the family and see, I’m pretty sure there must be at least one though as me and my little brother were made to wear the things all the fucking time.

Cant find any evidence on the internet of the patterns or I’d stick that up.

Gives me an idea for a thread ‘When did you realise you were growing up in poverty?’

Apparently this is from a 1947 6th round FA Cup tie against Birmingham.

Not sure if that is the famous Albert Stubbins diving header that old-timers used to mention in any 'Best Reds goals ever ' conversations. Hope not as it seemed relatively ordinary.
