Alternative Christmas Dinner

Because her brother is a selfish bastard who expects her mum to do a christmas dinner for everyone at 12 so him his wife and two kids can then go to her mums who will only eat at 4 despite it just being her and her fella. So fucking selfish. So I said months ago I will cook xmas dinner for her mum. Save her the hassle and he has her up the wall babysitting the kids etc. Plus who the fuck wants to eat christmas dinner at midday?

Its now me, her, her mum, her auntie and uncle, their two kids her uncles mum and her other uncle.

3 vegans so we've got some nut roasts in but her mum is doing the turkey and bringing that with her which helps.

But usual stuff. Turkey, roasties, sprouts, cauliflower cheese, parsnips, stuffing, yorkshires and the worlds best gravy. Its boss how Tesco do all the veg for pennies at xmas. 3 bags of spuds cost 60p. Brilliant.

The best ever xmas dinner I had was an exes dad who cooked the turkey on a spit over the bbq. Superb.

We're getting a curry delivered.

Our favourite curry house in Leeds is open tomorrow.

Think it’s a buffet for £25pp + drinks. Go elsewhere in the centre and it’s just short of £100 per head (doesn’t include drinks).

I’m sure my wife will do a great job tomorrow (we’re having beef) but I wouldn’t be against going for a curry one year.

Think I’ve asked before, but I can’t remember what you said, do you not like roast dinners, Mook?

I like a roast, aye. It's not something I would get particularly excited about though & the amount of effort that goes into a Christmas dinner is ludicrous.

It must be a weird time of year for you Tony, you're probably psyched for Christmas but simultaneously fuming that days have started to get longer

Yep. The stress and cost is ludicrous for some people.

I get it's a nice tradition but not to the point where it takes up some poor cunts day.

We've got my parents here for the first time so I'm using it as a chance to do something a little, but not scarily, different for the four of us. I'm cooking duck breast and serving it with a potato gratin, whole roasted cauliflower, pan fried sprouts and Yorkshires. We have the full Christmas dinner with her folks on Boxing Day so it's nice not to do it two days in a row for once, as much as I absolutely love the traditional Christmas dinner.

I reckon eating out on Christmas Day would be awful. You just know the place would be full of irritating bastards.
