I read up on it. I don’t care. That said, the ‘Keir did it’ thing looks to be both inaccurate and petty.

The fella in the Twitter post RP has quoted has been hired as head of comms by RLB, so obviously an unbiased source with no axe to grind.

Saying that, I don’t have a problem with RLB or any other candidate emailing their local CLP members, however I think the real issue in the story is whether they changed the rules retrospectively to benefit her. If they did then that is obviously newsworthy and it’s not smearing her to report it.

I was more interested to read his tweet in the thread that RLB’s team are specifically planning to try and counter smears about the left. I genuinely think you’re facing an array of hostile forces it’ll be difficult to beat back, but I’d be interested to see what they come up with.

Yep, feel the same. For clarity, Starmer seems to have sent out a blanket email and not using his CLP. Seems a bit shit but does need to be looked into. I don’t think she should be kicked out of the race due to it but Labour need to look at themselves.

Of course, that's why I posted the screenshot of the Keir email. I personally couldn't give a shit if both have broken rules and got away with it. They're emails asking for support and if both have broken rules and avoided getting in trouble over it that's not so fair on the others, but what are they going to do? Throw them both out then we have Nandy vs Thornberry for leader?

B-but, the emails! RLB is socialist so emails matter now.

And the reason I posted it without comment is because he's working for RLB. If he's posted a dodgy screenshot Starmer's team will obviously see that as a huge open goal and pile onto him for it, then we'll know he's lying. If there's no response from them we can guess both Starmer and RLB broke whatever rule it was.

But neither of them are going to be in real trouble over it, they're two of the main contenders for leader and there'd be uproar if they got too much of a pelanty for it.

Wish this contest would go on for longer. It's really exciting.

Agreed. It's like the contest is so boring that the media are picking out the stupidest little things possible to try and get us arguing because there's fuck all else interesting to do.

It's going to be Starmer with Rayner. It's all a waste of fucking time.

Yeah, it’s definitely not serious enough to warrant kicking her out of the race or anything like that. I do think that if they retrospectively changed a rule to benefit Starmer though that Twitter would be up in arms blabbering on about centrists and Blairites so what’s good for the Goose...

He worked in the same role for Corbyn for ages so I wouldn’t hold my breath he’ll suddenly come up with some radical idea. So far his genius at comms seems to be calling people melts and nonces on Twitter.

I’d go further than saying it’s difficult to beat hostile forces back and say it’s nigh on impossible. You can rebut anything the Mail or Telegraph says but the only people who are going to read your rebuttal are your own supporters in the main, the people who read any smears in said newspapers will carry on believing what they said.

Only one way to solve this and that is further press regulation but the only way that will be achieved is by being in power. Otherwise it’ll just be cancelled by the Tories as per Leveson 2.

It’s not so much a dodgy screenshot as it is a screenshot that shows something different to what RLB has been accused of, as NV says above.

It’s just spin from her comms in other words to take attention away from the main issue of the story which isn’t that she emailed her CLP members but rather that she got preferential treatment from the supposedly neutral NEC.

The only way I imagine is if there was any specific untruths and they took legal action. I am sure they could find some free legal advice seeing everybody in the race appears to be a fucking solicitor or barrister.

They should be neutral agreed on that, it's not helping things if it was mainly her fault and they've given her a pass.

Starmer was on GMBTV this morning. I'm fucking certain as that cunt Morgan called him Stammer earlier in the programme.

As it Holocaust Memorial day, the subject was about anti antisemitism is the Labour Party. I thought Starmer did well all things considered.

He does stammer, and speaks with much hesitation, so "they" will run with it and it will stick.  I think he's a really poor speaker in this environment.

They should really have spoke about Anti-Russian agendas on this day as well.

I have been surprised at how hesitant he seems to be whenever he speaks. Does not inspire confidence.

My thoughts also like his content big his delivery  distinctly average. Also wonder how he would cope during prime minister's questions opposite that blustering fool.

I remember him being pretty decent over the benches before the election in an argument. He tore them to shreds

Not concerned about his ability to verbalise his thoughts. Have not seen too much of him in full flow in commons mostly TV interviews so appreciate your thoughts.

Starmer doesn't seem too bad when reading something that's been prepared, though not great as his delivery is so dull.  But in interviews or anything off the cuff I honestly think he's terrible, lots of umming and ahing, er and erm every fourth word, really really bad.  I dunno though maybe I've missed the good stuff. And he always has a slightly startled expression.

No, we should not care about this stuff, but any perceived weakness will be exploited to the max, we know this.

Doesn't do that cunt who is currently in number 10 much harm.
