So RLB is being painted as the “Corbyn continuity candidate” in the media already. I thought that Corbyn was the issue and not the policies? If that’s true then why is she being given that label?

Don’t think that’s a media construct mate. Its common knowledge she’s the choice of at least Corbyn, McDonnell and Lansman to be his successor.

The article posted by her also doubles down on the, to use her own words, need for a leader who can be trusted with our socialist agenda, where the others standing for leadership clearly feel a different approach would be wiser at this point (and likely differ politically to a greater or lesser extent, of course).

Whether you agree someone being it is good or not, it’s not the media painting her as a continuity candidate. She’s been absolutely explicit about the fact she is. She mentions the word socialist about 30 times and signs off with comrade. I wouldn’t say it’s the best reading of the room in the world, personally.

And that’s before “Old school bruisers” like Ian Lavery start providing backing and making comments which won’t necessarily be helpful electorally and in terms of giving the media extra shit to throw.

All this faff in the media about how long the £25 voters window is open , but I can't see it being the massive issue it was in the last two.

I note the comments regarding RLB's speech , but it may be an astute move to differentiate herself from Starmer after the recent polling, and there is quite likely still a majority of people in the party who joined because of Corbyn and the leftward trend.

I agree mate but that just reinforces my point that it’s never just been about Corbyn, it’s about left wing policies.

Triple post because I was excitedly opening new medication while trying to post and just sent the same thing 3 times.

Also obviously said some terrible things about poster’s mums and meeting people outside KFC.

Always take your medication before you post, is what I always say.

Absolutely agree in terms of the lack of fair hearing left wing policies receive in this country via the usual means. It has ever been thus throughout and before my lifetime, from Benn to Foot to Smith to Corbyn (surely it’s worst ever example, even compared to Benn), taking in Kinnock, Brown and Miliband for good measure. Have left discussing the obvious as he’s been done to death.

But alongside that, and even setting aside their terrible political judgement, there are concerns about nepotism and entryism specific to the small group of people around Corbyn. If the majority of them are backing RBL, it’s easy to understand anxiety around the rules of this leadership election and how impartially it gets overseen/implemented - even though, ultimately, I want to see something approximating the programme of government put forward in December (I think certain items suggested are insane at the moment, others are way down the list of priorities and several were thrown on manically after full costings had been circulated).

I hope to god this is all run clean as a whistle, with no legitimate grounds to call foul play about a stitch-up, cronyism or the current leadership group hanging on via a death grip. Another potential civil war would be a disaster. I think the current maxims for the left need to be unity, compromise and heeding the election result, personally, however much it sticks in the throat.

What’s the ‘Corbyn left’ of the party?

That tag has fucking annoyed me for ages. Corbyn was the best candidate to be a socialist leader of what I think should be a socialist party. It’s why I voted for him in two leadership elections.

That doesn’t mean he owns ‘socialism’ in the party and I expect he’d be embarrassed and uncomfortable  with anyone claiming he does.
