Takumi Minamino

Likeable lad who tries for every minute he is on the pitch , but if you are as lightweight as he is you have to have a great first touch as a minimum , and he doesn't.

You need a bit of luck. That shot that narrowly went wide at the start of the second half; if that goes in, he's scored the goal of the season, and he's the principal reason we might be on our way to Wembley. Narrow margins and all that.

Ridiculous waste of time signing him. Only signed because he was ridiculously cheap and we though we could make money on him. The Echo were wanking about his true value being around £35m and how clever FSG were at buying him. The Japanese Ben Davies.

He will end up on loan to Fiorentina, Genoa or Roma with us paying his wages until his contract runs out.

That was a failed cross, wasn't it?

His miss was actually fairly out of character for him. To me, his best quality here has been finishing. I think he's been pretty shite at everything else, which you just can't be in this team.

Thought he was better than Firmino and Jota to be honest.

That's because he was.

That and his ability to find spaces and get himself into goalscoring positions in the box. He’ll always score goals I reckon, but his overall quality doesnt seem to be good enough.

Think we will get our money back on him/turn a slight profit - well on his fee anyway, we have obviously paid him a bomb for sod all....but i think we will be able to say ta-ra to him and get back 10m or so.

Our scouting team is surely one of the worst in the league. I remember seeing the Salzburg game and being impressed by several of their attacking players. We ended up with the worst of them.

Nothing wrong with the effort, he simply doesn’t have enough quality.

Every club is going to have misses. We run round after players with release clauses etc because we think there's value, but you're operating in a smaller field when you do that. Shaq and minamino fall into that category. You could say so does keita, although he was still a big fee. Chamberlain was the last 12 months of his contract. Even thiago was a last 12 months of the contract and his inability to get on the pitch was there to see before he arrived. Thats not to say you should never buy those players, but if it's your starting point, it's going to bring challenges.

Good for him to get back on the scorer's sheet before the away leg.

And seriously, I hope he goes around that Geordie Shore looking twat they have at the back and sits him on his arse. The amount of fucking Arsenal-related spam I've copped on my IG feed about how great they are now is doing my head in.

    • For every Blankery Blank there is a Bullseye.
    • The trilogy is greater than the sum of its parts. They all make the other films a little better with their backward and forward references.
    • Two unsung heroes from last season could be heading in different directions in the January transfer window according to reports.   Nat Phillips remains a player of considerable interest to teams in the second half of the Premier League table.   The central defender has has only made three appearances for the Reds in this campaign as Virgil Van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez have returned to senior action after lengthy injuries.   Currently Phillips is out of action with a fractured cheekbone suffered during his last appearance for the club at the San Siro against AC Milan last month.     The Echo reports that the club have rejected two bids during this window, one is believed to be from Watford and more interest is expected to come in the next few days.   Fellow perennial strugglers in Burnley and Newcastle have also had interest in Phillips while a move by West Ham was also mooted due to their own injury issues at centre back.   So while Phillips maybe slowly heading to the exit door, there is set to be a familiar face return with the club cutting short the loan spell of Rhys Williams at Swansea.     The 20 year-old who signed a long-term deal in the summer was loaned out to the Welsh club in August as the club wanted him to continue his learning curve and get more first team experience under his belt.   But to this stage of the season, Williams has only made seven appearances (five in the league) with Swans manager Russell Martin outlining the difficult position.   “We’ve been really honest with Liverpool about the opportunities Rhys has had and the potential opportunities he has moving forward, so the ball is in their court.   “We can’t send him back…That’s the danger of doing loans. The parent club is always in control, to an extent. I think Rhys is in contact with them constantly about what’s happening."   Despite his lack of first team opportunities, Martin was full of praise of his professionalism and general attitude.   “I think the frustrating thing for Rhys is that he’s really happy here, he’s enjoying training, he feels he’s improved, but the one disappointing thing for him is that he’s had limited opportunities.”

    • Could not be doing with that for lunch on a working day. You should have shifted him to the evening and got a decent wine out of it as well
    • Spurs seem to be on a hell of a run since Conte came in.    Fantastic manager. And I can't believe United didn't go for him, the fucking clowns.
