He must be gutted he scored and had a good game against Palace the other week.

Lad hasn’t had a look in since and our attacking plays dropped off a cliff

Think it must be really hard for players like Taki to get going and make an impact in a team. They frequently or should that be infrequently get to play in depleted sides, often in one of the cups or a couple of minutes at best substitute appearance.

Signings like him and Shaqiri look good when they're just squad options and you don't actually have to use them. Big bargains until your top class forwards are out of form and all of a sudden you're arguing that someone with 1 Premier League goal and someone who misses half of games through injury would fix the issues.

I like him in theory and if we sold him to Southampton or Leeds I think he'd be quite good there, but I'm not sure what he's doing here, specifically.

Very surprised we didn’t put him on yesterday instead of Origi.

We’d have been better sticking Phillips upfront instead of Origi.

As a veteran of the Evans, Houllier and Rafa era of mid/high seven figure 'punt' signings of next Zidanes and what not and of the countless pub and forum conversations of trying to decide whether they would come good and tying to figure out why a good performance wasn't followed up with more good performances, and how maybe it was a positioning thing.

I've learned the hard way to embrace the occam's razor approach to these situations as in, I think he might just be shite.

Think it’s getting overstated how he played against palace he took the goal he scored well and did alright other than that.

seems very light weight to me in saying that I’d start him ahead of Bobby as Bobby is just stinking the place out at the moment.

Here's the thing though, he played a good part in a 0-7 win, scored and he's barely had a sniff since. We're struggling for goals and klopp doesn't want to turn to him. There must be a reason for that, but I don't see how these fringe players fit in if they can't even get a go when we're playing badly. He's clearly struggled a bit since getting here, but if he can't contribute, let's just get him sold and get in someone who can. We seem to have a lot of players who offer is little to nothing.

Klopp has been incredibly loyal to his starting players throughout his entire time here. Even when he first joined and most of them were fucking shite.

Thing is the results & performance have mostly gone in a positive direction, so it's easier to do. I would guess this is our worst run of form since he's been here, certainly since his 1st summer. If you're a fringe player you have to wonder when you'll get your real chance if you've done as he has, which is play, score in a big win and then not get a sniff in a really bad run. I'm not saying he should be in the team either, I am just trying to put myself in the position of the player.

The two games he's been involved in (Palace and Villa) Liverpool have scored 11 goals. Maybe that's coincidence but he scored the opener against Palace and assisted a goal against Villa. Nothing overstated about that.

Whether that would have continued if he had been selected to play against the dross that we drew against, we'll never know as he wasn't selected. All we know is the players who were selected against those teams have scored 1 goal against the dross.

What is the worst that can happen if the players are selected? They don't win? We're not winning anyway. All the players need to own up to what is going on but give them all a chance rather than keep playing the same players/formation when it's obvious it isn't working right now.

    • His stats for stealing a fucking living are absolutely sky-high.
    • the more i watch of thiago is he looks a slightly less mobile version of gini. i know everyone says thiago's passing is great, but i am convinced that's just because he plays no look passes, i don't see any benefit over what gini contributes. maybe i am wrong, but i reckon we got thiago as gini's replacement, but we were able to fund it early by selling brewster and using lallana's wages and if barca had bid enough for gini, we'd have snatched their hands off. thank fuck they didn't. no way he's here next year though sadly. let's hope we get someone to add value using gini's wages - fuck knows where the fee will come from.
    • I think you're right but I wish you weren't.    I don't  get why the club paid what it did for Thiago along with his wages yet not sort out a deal for Gini when there's very little age difference and he's already on the books.   He's a cracking player Gini, fit,  reliable and hard working. It doesn't make sense to me that he hasn't been offered a deal.   Because of his importance to the team, as far as I'm concerned,  it's a no brainer.
    • I've said I think if VVD stayed fit, this wouldn't be the problem it is.    As for this complete drop off, it has coincided with playing Henderson in defence and his place going to thiago - if I recall correctly Henderson's 1st game at centre back was Southampton, which was thiago's 1st start and this was our 1st defeat of the run we've had this year. That was the point our midfield stopped, except for the brief support it got from milner, when we actually picked up some points. So we dipped off when we 1st lost VVD, but the collapse went once we doubled down on destroying the midfield to support the defence. However, that didn't need to happen. We could have gone out and found someone and got it all signed and sealed like we did with VVD 3 years previous and he was ready to go. Once they waited till Gomez got injured, then everyone in the market place would fuck us. But it didn't take a genius to see he'd get injured, it's what he does.   It's massively bad planning. Going into the season the risk with vvd was there to see. We should have had plans in place in case this happened. We didn't need to act on it, but it's basic common sense if you're taking a gamble is you protect your position if it goes wrong. It shouldn't have taken both Gomez and Matip to get injured to see a reaction.    As for you comment about a rebuild - well we clearly need one soon as it's an aging squad. Assuming the players come back from injury at the level they were at before, I say carragher is right and we need 3 right through the spine. 2 of them should just be replacements for origi and Gini. The only one net new should be at centre back - and while unlikely, perhaps he's already at the club.
    • Haha I liked that one. Probably would be more use to us than Naby.
