It's a great little game what ive played of it so far and it really is quite magical even my missus had a go and she thinks people who play games are dickheads.

I felt bad later on when it got a bit more challenging for calling Quill a twat when, looking back on it, it was probably my own fault for being shite.

Blood and truth is decent even with just a normal controller. How can VR not be the future of gaming when its so immersive.

The problem is the prices. Facebook are trying to make the Oculus Quest 2 the goto system and at £400 it's affordable without being cheap. But to get to that price they've made some compromises which means you'd have to spend £500 to get the headset. On top of that, add on a £600 PC and you're good to go.

Alternatively the PSVR which is still going to cost around £600 all in with playstation and headset.

The best way it becomes the place to go for gaming is a headset that is universally compatible with as many systems as possible. Whoever comes up with that is going to have to build a factory the size of a country to satisfy demand. It will be interesting to see what Apple do with theirs.

It's the best thing in gaming for years but it's a long road to becoming accessible due to pricing and platform.

It will eventually lower in price its inevitable especially as the porn industry will push VR further.

It's 350 euro for an Oculus Quest 2. You don't need to spend 500 quid. If you want to use it with a PC then a GTX 970 works which isn't exactly cutting edge these days. You can spend more of course for a better experience but you don't have to.

Out of the box the cable and headstrap aren't really fit for purpose. I agree you can get away with about £350 or euros but for mainstream entertainment at the moment that's not going to give you an experience that takes you away from switch/xbox/playstation/pc. If it's to be mainstream in the future, it would have to be cheaper at the top end. I've never used it but the Valve Index is supposed to be the cream crackers and for the price you'd expect it to be. Imagine that with links to some or all of  xbox/ps/switch/pc functionality at a sub £400\£500 price point?

I'm fine with the head strap it comes with. The PSVR is a lot lighter but the Quest isn't an issue with me.

The cable that came with my new Xbox controller works with the Quest so I haven't actually bought a cable. I much prefer Virtual Desktop to tethered anyway. I have bought a new router for 50 euro but I needed one anyway.

Do you think it can be the future of gaming, taking over from the other platforms?

I'm far more likely to play something on either the Quest or the PSVR than a normal console or PC game at the moment. Not too arsed about not being able to buy a PS5 or new Xbox yet. VR feels far more revolutionary. No idea if the general public are ready to make it go mainstream like.

Pretty much the same, will be interesting too see if it does and most importantly what prompts it.

If it does go mainstream the games will only improve. It's mad how you can take something like Doom 3 and stick it in VR years later and it becomes a fantastic experience.

I loved doom 3 when it first released, I dreaded opening doors for fear of what was behind it. I'm still to set up side quest, when I do that's going on but I fear for my life.

There's a VR mod for Doom 3 BFG as well so you don't have to use side quest. It's also getting an official release on PSVR this month since it works so well.

Finished Moss a short but brilliant little game, like being inside a Disney story. Beautifully made.

Also finished Blood and Truth a lot of people didn't like this game but I loved it. Cockney gangster getting revenge because of the almost rails like effect I had no motion sickness, it was great using a virtual shotgun and some of it was a pure cinematic experience.

We currently have a Quest 2 and Valve Index. Yes the Valve Index is excellent,  however, I have an £1800 graphics card powering it, along with very high end mobo, cpu etc, everything that can be over clocked and all running perfectly together.

If we hook up the Quest 2 to the same machine the difference is not night and day. Infact in all honestly it is negligible to the point we are considering selling the Index as the controllers alone are brand new rma and like the lighthouses are difficult to buy right now without paying hugely inflated prices. This would pay for my lower end gaming pc to have some upgrades that it is due.

So it is not the fact that Index is better, it is just down to the fact it is not really a level playing field as mostly people don't have the hardware to run them side by side for a fair comparison.  This kind of might sound pedantic but I think the fact it is not necessarily the expense of the headset more the equipment running it that is the limitation.

Whilst throwing cash at it isn't the answer people would like to here, it does bode well for the future as let's face in in a few years the new standalone vr systems will be able to house the equivalent kit I am running at a fraction of the cost.

Last page I read about motion sickness, something that had absolutely plagued me to extreme levels. What I have noticed is as fps and resolutions have icreased is the effects have lessened. I still can't walk about and have to use the teleport systems I  games, however, now I can spend a fair amount of time in there before I begin to feel light headed. This is the case for both Index and Q2 (when tethered to pc). In all honesty right now to fix this the answer is to throw money at it unfortunately. Going from a 2080ti to a 3090 has drastically improved things again simply by increasing frame rate.

Btw take a look at Climb 2 should be already released, looks great fun and will look forward to vr sickness and vomiting off to of skyscrapers.

Definitely the tech behind the VR is currently the King, once VR is either completely self-sufficient (Quest is getting there) or the tech behind it becomes cheaper or more flexible, I'm certain it would take off. It still seems a bit niche for many people and that's a shame as it is truly a revoluition waiting to happen. I'm looking forward to it becoming more of a productivity suite too, it should have released last year but it's taking longer than expected but Infinite Office looks great.

Motion sickness is definitely a factor, maybe it's just getting used to it. The Climb 2 looks incredible. I'm incredibly tempted by it. I have a small amount of credit due to an overpayment on my credit card (about £20) and this looks so tempting. I just worry that it sounds like it's a really short experience. If it was going to expanded in the future it would be an absoliute no brainer. It's made by Crytek, isn't it? Same people as Crysis, the PC Destroyer.

Funny you say it is not main stream, I mean you are correct, however, watching them from dk1 under 55k units in the world to seeing them on shop floors feels very main stream even if technicallythey are not quite there.

Originally I think the resolution was 600x800 per eye if memory seves, simply because of screen technology. Having watched them advance, both technically and commercial sense, I reckon they will get there. As much as I can't stand Facebook their buyout was probably the best thing to happen as far as main stream goes - even surpassing the technical upgrades, )). It gave VR publicity it would never have attained. Even the BBC refused to have any news articles because their senior tech guy said it was bound to fail just as it had done in the 90s with the crt screen tech. Facebook actually forced people to take notice (the bastards).

Oh and yeah Climb 2 = Crytek.

The most recent Xbox software update has included a potential feature suggesting VR functionality - a screen pop-up with the letters VR is included apparently.

Phil Spencer of Microsoft Xbox says that the screen pop-up was included 'in error'.
