Sterling / Gomez - 'clash'

Joe should wait, like a man-eating octopus in the shallows. 2022 World Cup final. England v Holland. Delicately poised at 1-1 in the last minute of injury time. Gomez on as fresh legs for the extra time. Takes possession of the ball on the edge of his own area. Deftly turns and slots expertly past the despairing tiny arms of Jordan Pickford and into his own net. While a stunned and confused stadium fidgets in silence, Joe coolly walks to a camera on the touchline and, directly addressing the audience, says “Now boo that, you cunts.”

A man can fantasise, can’t he?

Then celebrates like a lunatic with Virg and Gini at the whistle.

Oh, he did. Made into scapegoat for his sending off in 98, helped along by the red tops of course. To be fair to him, he knuckled down and just got on with it,  they were soon all back fawning over him.

As much as I disliked the whole Beckham circus that sending off was a fucking joke however Ingurland's moronic supporters were true to form in their reaction.

Gomez wouldn't have been booed if he played for anybody else, no question about that, but I don't think the media have anything to do with it. The press isn't the reason so much of the rest of the country hates us.

Generally speaking we get favourable media (there are obviously exceptions) because the club play that game very well these days. They give good access to the press, are as accommodating as possible and that results in favourable coverage.

Man City are the opposite. They act like dicks, stop players speaking to certain outlets (Sky for example) because they accuse them of favouring LFC, and then they cry foul when us and United get more coverage than they do.
