For me it’s gotta be DAMN. Perhaps not as cohesive but better individual songs.

Tough, tough call. With all my CDs in storage I can't even look back at the shelf to see what I'm forgetting but off the top of my head these would be in contention:

The National - High Violet & Sleep Well Beast

Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly

Janelle Monae - The ArchAndroid & Dirty Computer

Sufjan Stevens - Carrie & Lowell

Father John Misty - I Love You, Honeybear

BADBADNOTGOOD - IV

DD Dumbo - Utopia Defeated

Bowie - Black Star

Deerhunter - Halcyon Digest

Josh T Pearson - Last of the Country Gentlemen

Kamasi Washington - The Epic

St Vincent - MASSEDUCTION

Arcade Fire - The Suburbs

Great shouts on The ArchAndroid, Kamasi Washington and BBNG. I’d have the former right up there with TPAB.

Joy as an Act of Resistance- Idles

Sometimes I Just Sit and Think/ Tell Me How You Really Feel- Courtney Barnett

Light Up Gold/ Wide Awake!- Parquet Courts

Can't think of much else, I've tended just to like individual songs rather than entire albums. Michael Kiwanuka is growing on me at the minute though, started listening after all the recommendations in his thread.

Frank Ocean - Channel Orange

Kaytranada - 99.9%

I saw Future Islands with about 10 people in a squatted bike shed some years ago when I'd never heard of the cunts. He was doing all of that despite space and audience size.

They are the mad cunts that make it. Lunatics in-front of a man and his dog.

Saying that, I argue with myself in the bath and I'm a nobody.

I didn't like them when I first saw them on Letterman. The tune was good but he was annoying the shit out of me. I guess he kind of grew on me because I've seen them play down here a couple of times  and they're great live.

Not really. I haven't heard a lot of his stuff,  but what I have heard makes me place him in the hipster cunt region. Plus white people with dreads can mostly fuck off.

ETA why do you ask? I don't hear a lot of similarities between FI and John Butler. One is synth based with a nod to eighties style, and the other is crusty guitar noodlings.
