Going to be harsh here and say this is as poor a showing as Sunday. Apart from the Ox's goal we've given the ball away for fun. Sadio looks like he's out for a stroll. Bobby's doing the little flicks that arent coming off and losing possession cheaply. Mo looks a shadow of himself. Naby looks bright then turns into a crowd of oppos players.

Id be very pissed off if that headed goal had been for us and chalked off. It looks like another marginal offside. That lino has spotted a couple though.

Ghenk look like they have a goal in them tonight so I think it is vitally important we get a second. Our defending seems to have gone missing a bit!

playing like we have the last couple of times was always going to happen with the amount of football that went on over the summer months and the lack of recovery time for players.

I don't even think we look tired. It's technical/tactical. Poor passing and not covering. Maybe caused by lethargy I suppose.

I doubt that combination of a back five has ever lined up together for us, which might explain how we’ve been caught out a few times.

On this half’s evidence, people were getting a bit overexcited about Keita knocking it about in front of United’s 11-man defence on Sunday. He’s been anonymous again so far tonight, which isn’t much of a departure from the past.

Big Adam surely gets 45 minutes.

Any type of win will do tonight.

Agreed. It's a great opportunity to cement that attacking role tonight but both Keita and AOC have been largely anonymous, they should be running games like this but the question marks remain.

Down to scumming it with a stream this evening which magically turned to Chinese after 15 minutes. Great quality though and the Chinese commentators were getting the names right and excited when we attacked so I just left it.

Good start from us and nice to see Ox score, we've dominated possession thereafter but they've had the best chances. As I said yesterday we have to be aware of these pacey physical forwards they have, thankfully they are not that composed in front of goal. Our front three looking a hit out of sync tonight and Salah a bit off the pace. Keita needs to stop rushing things as it looks like he is still trying too hard when given a chance to play like tonight. Just play your natural game lad.

I’m glad I’ve been put straight about thinking Liverpool were the team of the 80s though.  It turns out I was completely fooled and it was actually Crystal Palace.  What a complete idiot I am.

How many trophies did they win in that decade?

just checked. They won as many trophies in the 80s as Everton gave this century. Team of the fucking 80s my arse

Naby Keita touched the ball more times than any other player on the pitch out there.

But has he used it well? Created opportunites? successfully dribbled through opposition defenders? The answer is no. He's been far to safe and let's be honest he's there to open defences, we have plenty of other players to play it safe.

Agree with this. When Keita gets the ball (not only him. just as an example) their first instinct is to try and get forward, unfortunately the ball control isn't good enough at times and they are making it easy for defenders/midfielders to get stuck in. When it does come off it looks good though. Sometimes they need to have a quick look to see where the space is before the ball reaches them, if there is no space then they don't have to try and force it, just play it back to a free player.
