Seriously, we do not need to be shooting ourselves in the foot by selecting players that we know never play well in these sort of games.  Klopp needs to reflect on that.  

Talisman goalie not playing clearly made a difference as well.

Crap performance. They executed their game plan way better than we did ours. Just close down at the right moment and hit it early to Rashford and James.

 

Until the final 10 minutes it was the typical turd-in-shorts showing at Old Trafford. Only real positives being Chamberlain and Lallana's contributions off the bench. 

 

People will talk about the ref but the Origi decision was 50/50 at best. There was minimal contact and he falls dramatically. Some will give it, some won't. Not clear-cut at all. And then, they were pretty much first to every ball for most of the game so that just inherently gave them the advantage in terms of winning free kicks. 

 

In short, disappointing. You can't say before the game how much better you are and then complain about the refereeing when there's no obvious wrong call and your team lacks intensity.

We really have got a problem going there haven't we - players seem overly anxious, nervy, too rushed and lack composure.

Agree on most counts but it was a foul, even my manc mates said it was.

Taking into account how it looked to be panning out, an off day against 12 men, you'll take that point. 

 

Atkinson was woeful. Gets their goal wrong. Blows up when we counter for a non head injury. Gives picky fouls against us but doesn't give the picky Origi one for their goal. Books Fabinho (rightly) meaning he's on notice that one more bad tackle, but lets similar cynical fouls by Rojo and Young go without a card. An abject and suspicious refereeing performance. 

 

I think we actually benefitted from Keita and Lallana coming on. We moved the ball much quicker and Lallana tried a few of his pirouettes to try and brake the lines. Which he did a few times. 

 

They weren't much better than us. As above, not the worst point, but it smarts a bit that they had to cheat to get it.

Not a bad result against 12 men and var so that'll do pig. Atkinson was like his usual self the fucking cunt. 

Keita should have been on way earlier and instead of ox in my opinion as he's not a winger.

However, our overall performance wasn't great today. We got out of jail really and the goal was lucky that it got so far across the box the way it did.

If we had won today to go 6 clear, we'd be ecstatic so let's just thank our lucky stars we kept going. 

Fucking infuriating and Salah was a huge loss. 

It's games like this when that extra top class option that city have comes into effect.

Shabby performance, but a point is a solid result in the end.

 

I think losing in such an abject way could have had a really horrible effect on morale, especially in comparison to last season, where our only defeat came in a good display against a world class Man City team - instead, it’s a point gained under trying circumstances.

Well thank fuck for Adam Lallana and Andy Robertson. The sheer pain in the commentators voice at the end of that was great too. I really did think we were gonna steal it though and Klopp needs to have a word about the hopeless long balls and crosses.

 

A point away to these, no matter how shit they are, is still a good point nonetheless. To get one when we were on the wrong end of so many refreeing decisions and without Salah is even better. On to the next game.

Regardless of the result that was a diabolical performance by Atkinson. Every 50:50 one way only. Doesn't know what a foul is. Books Fabinho for a cynical foul but lets Rojo and Young get away with exactly the same thing. Stops play for 5 minutes while James gets treatment for a non- head injury. Lets Utd players being subbed walk all the way across the pitch when they're supposed to go off at the nearest boundary. Howard Webb at his finest would struggle to top today's performance.
