I kind of think he should have been held up as a cautionary tale for how not to develop young players (Rashford seems on the same path, losing momentum fast).  He's was an excellent talent, but well overplayed in the hope he would suddenly turn into the full package.  At his best as a good squad player, still a big part of the side that I fell in love with in the early/mid-90s (with Barnes in there carrying the responsibility), but then as injuries took their toll he was fucked.  Always had great technique though.

 

Mad he was captain mind.  We had Babbel, Fowler, Hyypia, Didi and Gary Mac in the side...
