Winning games and tough ones away at that when not playing best is a very, very useful tool to have in the bag.

What is this offside, reset, phase of play shit. If it doesn’t matter that someone was offside because the game had carried on long enough, just scrap offside for fuck’s sake.

 

They obviously let it play on artificially long every time now because they have VAR to fall back on. It doesn’t stop the fact he was offside and should be ruled as such.

It’s tricky though. Salah and Mane are competitive enough characters to get pissed off if they’re rested or subbed early. It could be counterproductive.

It's still rotating the squad.

 

All these minutes take toll on the players stamina levels.

 

Don't forget Mo, Bobby and Mane didn't get a break during the summer either.

Didn't think Mo was great, but thought they handled him well. Usually a crowd around him, and one on one they could keep up with his pace.

That's the worst I've seen Mo play in a long time. Very sloppy with the ball and losing possession too easily. 

 

Boss result though and 2 points more than we got there last season.

Because there was one last season in our favour against Southampton away I think, when we scored and the replay showed Salah (I think) was offside in the run-up to the goal. Someone who knew about VAR rules, a ref or whatever, said at the time that even though he was offside, there was enough time/action between the offside and the goal that it was a different "phase of play" and thus the goal wouldn't have been ruled out even if VAR was operating. It was similar to the goal today.

Another good game for Adrian, he's been brilliant. Top keeper, if we had to rely on mig today it could have been 3-2..
