Your favourite old mobiles

Was quite late to mobiles and wasn't really that arsed about having the latest ones (the whole Nokia thing passed me by even though virtually everyone I knew had one) but I've had a couple I still remember fondly. 

 

The Motorola V50. It was one of the first flip phones and tiny compared to most. Some bird in concert square was buzzing off it it was that ground-breaking at the time (I did not receive a hand job). 

 

It came with a leather holster which I used to clip on the back of my belt during my uni days and would take it out and flip it like captain Kirk.

 

 

The Sharp GX10i was another favourite and solid as fuck, really chunky and would open with a satisfying click.  It also had one of the first colour screens but thankfully no polyphonic ring tones which were annoying.

Everyone and I mean EVERYONE had that sharp when it came out. Vodafone in Ireland were offering it with free multimedia messages for the first 6 months. 

Also, the Nokia 3210 and 3310 were the staple phone in everyone's pocket before that

I had a rubber Nokia that you could literally throw against a wall and it would be fine, I miss being able to do that.

 

I miss the size of old phones, most newer ones are too big & make you look like a cunt when you put them in your jean pocket.

I sat in a toilet on a train from Portsmouth Harbour to Bristol Temple Meads bunking it and played snake the whole way. Still had about 80% battery by the time I'd bunked the cross country to Birmingham. Quick bunk to Lime St. 74% Anyway I did well on snake.

Then later moved onto this bad boy. Marketed with Walkman but unless you had a memory card it could only hold about six songs and one grainy two minute porn clip. 

 

 

Two minutes is more than enough, like.

Sony Ericsson K750i. One of the first decent camera phones. I had a few Sony Ericsson phones and the batteries in these things were always good.

I absolutely loved my Sony Ericsson in the mid noughties. Can’t remember exactly what model it was but I loved it.

I got the Nokia 8810 in 1998. It was cool as fuck. Had an internal antenna, was chrome plated and looked like a Zippo lighter. Ended up leaving it at home more than I used it, as hardly anyone I knew had a mobile phone and I was shit scared of losing it on a night out.

My first one was a Sony J5. It had a boss game on it where you were a monkey in a tree and had to lash bananas at monkeys in other trees.

 

I had one of these too. Nokia 8310. I had the blue one. I think it was one of the first mobiles to have an FM radio transmitter.

Had one of these after my Ericson flip phone fell apart.  Then a few Samsungs, the Blackberry Storm 2 (with it's weird touchscreen) and onto good modern smartphones.

Motorola V80 was my favourite, while every other cunt was fucking around with flip phones, this badboy spun around to reveal the keyboard, and on top of that the silver rim had multi-coloured lights underneath that flashed like a disco ball in time to whatever music was playing. Incredible stuff. 

 

Phones are shite these days, all look the same, all do exactly the same stuff, bar maybe the odd gimmick that catches on, which is then copied by every other phone a year later anyway. Out of my last 5 phones the only difference has been better screen/better camera/slightly faster. Nothing interesting about them whatsoever.

Had an old light brown Siemens that was their version of the indestructible Nokia. 

 

Loved that phone. Even though it had Siemens on it. 

 

It was my Siemens.
