The problem with VAR is that the notion of a “clear and obvious error” is based on the entirely subjective notion of it being an error based on what the referee sees in real-time.

 

Essentially, it doesn’t discourage diving and might actually encourage it - it brings greater prominence to the dubious art of deceiving the referee and arguably makes it more of a skill to aspire to. Perform convincingly and VAR cannot overturn it.

In Rugby league, the video ref gives the correct decision whether that overrules the ref or not. VAR is just a bunch of cowards in a room that are scared of upsetting the on field officials. It's a complete waste of time and hindering the game as oppose to helping it.
