Try Moneysupermarket.com for comparisons. If you want cheaper premiums then you can go for Decreasing Cover, whereby the payout decreases over time (usually to track a repayment mortgage) or you can go for Level cover whereby the payout stays the same during the lifetime of the policy (premiums are more expensive).

MoneySavingExpert.com is a good place to get advice.

Probably a real financial advice job tbh.  There are loads of different policy types out there, coated differently because they have different aims and customer profiles.  Your health, stage of life and the benefits you want all need to be worked out before you make a decision.

 

But I might be overcomplicating it, all I remember was it took a bit of work to get my head around - took two attempts at an exam because of it.  May have just been because it wasn't in my day to day job mind you.
