Reading that Bingham won the last game of the Carter match with a century break and that was his first of the tournament. Wouldn't have thought that was possible with the standards these days. But he beat Carter so hey-ho.

Really low amount of centuries across this tournament to be fair. I think their had only been 16 before the final. Thats just over 1 per match.

Hawkins was so bad in that match. 

 

Agreed, standard wise that was the worst I've seen for a major snooker event. Even Bingham was shite for most of the final. Weird because its been a half decent season so far. 

 

Whats the venue like? Looked great to be fair and they were wanking over it on the telly/twitter.

They were on about so many upsets but in the masters you can't really call any result and upset. That said, for 7 of the 8 opening ties the least favourite to win is crazy.

Yeah, the venue was good. I used to live 5 minutes' walk from Ally Pally and for some reason never went until this year.

I didn't see much of the tournament, which is unusual as it's one of my favourites and something I always look forward to after Christmas. No Ronnie though - is that a vision of things to come as he winds down? He completely overshadows the whole game. Maybe it'll be for the best when he finally quits and the game can get on without him.

Mark Williams here limping round the table in slippers because he has got gout. Interviewer said before the game "Its normally associated with heavy drinkers" Williams replied "Ease up I've spent a month eating healthy stuff like pasta and jacket potatoes for a month and I haven't touched a drop of alcohol. Plus I've been walking about 30 miles a week playing golf so its not that. So sod it, tonight I'm gonna have a kebab and get back on the budweiser".
