Pity, but he said himself a while ago that he was coming to the end of his tenure as the Commons Speaker. Tories will try their hardest to get a yes man into the position now.

He's a good man, and he's a very accomplished speaker but let's not kid ourselves that he's impartial. He's a staunch hard line Remainer and has made many concessions to get things like the Yvette Cooper amendment through parliament at the last second. He is rightfully hated by the Tories, and rightfully loved by Labour supporters, but impartial he most certainly is not.

Let's not kid ourselves. The Tories expected a former right winger to give them everything and when he was impartial and didn't bend over, they threw their toys out of the pram.
