I think he’s been as impartial as any politician could be.  It’s a real shame to see him go.  His decision to leave now shows the sort of person he is.  He obviously has different beliefs to a lot of us on here but he’s a democrat through and through and a credit to parliament.

He's a good man, and he's a very accomplished speaker but let's not kid ourselves that he's impartial. He's a staunch hard line Remainer and has made many concessions to get things like the Yvette Cooper amendment through parliament at the last second. He is rightfully hated by the Tories, and rightfully loved by Labour supporters, but impartial he most certainly is not.

Let's not kid ourselves. The Tories expected a former right winger to give them everything and when he was impartial and didn't bend over, they threw their toys out of the pram.
