I remember chatting with my mate between the barbecue finishing and the match build up starting on champions league final day last summer at mine, about the player you immediately associate with any given shirt.

not necessarily the best, or even the player you most liked, but the one that just straight away jumps into mind when you see it.

for example, the 93-95 kit above screams Nigel Clough at me straight away. I want it to be Fowler, or Rush, but it’s not. It’s Clough.

So here’s some more from the nineties into the early 2000s...

this should really be the diamond one, but still... John Barnes.

Where the kits always shit when we were shit or do we just associate good times with good kits? If we won the league in 1993 would we all love that monstrosity? It can't be just a coincidence that all the kits we won things in are boss ( apart from 2005, that was rank).

The internet is awash with people moaning about generic template kits. Well, our great kits of the 60s, 70s and 80s, 1984 included, were exactly that.

Come on, Tony, there was only so much they could do with a sewing machine and a bucket of dye back then.

And yet it is still miles better than the centenary shirt from 1992/93, which is the worst home shirt ever.

Nah. The earlier one is a bit better, by virtue of the fact that there's a greater proportion of red to stripes. I barely even accept that mid-90s abomination as a Liverpool shirt: it's an Adidas shirt, with a Liverpool badge chucked on as an afterthought.
