Nike deal

For those half white abominable socks that we've had to endure and will continue to endure for the next 8 months alone do new balance need to be liquidated.

I’m probably in a minority of one, but I’d like to see the return of our pre-1964 home colours of red shirts, white shorts and red/white socks, even if it was just for one season.

If it was me running the club, one of the things I would definitely do is have it Accepting more money shouldn't mean the clubs having to give so much leeway to designers who spend all day eating "avo on toast", drinking wheatgrass juice and dropping acid.

Real men eat egg whites on wheat germ toast.

Which,I believe,is why the club want a Nike deal. Some on here have complained about not being able to purchase our kits easily and it must be a not too unfamiliar problem. Distribution is the key and it seems New Balance have fallen a bit short in the past.

Nike could probably double the production and distribution of our kits and people would still have difficulty getting one if it proves to be a popular design.

There seems to be this fallacy than Nike, or an even NB, could double the production numbers. But if they over produce and because the shirt design now changes every year, they could easily be in a position where they'll have to heavily discount in an attempt to shift the surplus. And may still fail leaving loads unsold.

I didn't mention increasing numbers,I said that it seems that distributing our kits to various parts of the world, even some parts of Europe has appeared to have been a bit of a problem in recent times with new balance.

I never said you did mention increased numbers. I used increased numbers as a premise in my point. The point being, even if another company makes more shirts \ kits and has a bigger distribution network, if those shirts \ kits turn out to be very popular, some people will still have trouble getting it.

The only way to get around that conundrum, is to over supply but this then risks the need to heavily discount to shift the said surplus.

Aside from the greater access to World Markets (NB only seem to sell in the UK) Nike also have some pull with players under Nike sponsorship- and can offer personal sponsorship to incoming players, outside of the contract that player would sign with the club.

Shady, but that’s just how things are done.
