Yeah, there was something on the training video where Klopp says something to him and he looks shattered, saying yeah i needed that.

I'd love to know what actually happened in that training session, you really wouldn't think you would do that much damage going down not under a bad challenge

Yeah there was initially and then quickly changed to he was on his own and just went down. Always sounded a bit fishy

I think I was watching another match because I thought Gomez was sensational considering how long he's been back.

I looked at him yesterday and thought he looked like a £100m CB. He glides over the turf, he's agile, he's strong, he takes command, and his passing is so impressive.

I agree with this. Might be a tough ask keeping all our CBs happy though if they (admittedly improbably) avoid spending much time injured and Gomez is perhaps the one I’d be most concerned about in that regard.

From the ridiculous to the sublime: we have the best set of centre backs in the world again now

I know, it's actually a slight problem giving them all the game time they need now. The domestic cups might take on a new importance for the management team this year. Already, it looks like we won't be shipping too many goals regardless of how our back four is constituted.

I thought he looked really good too, obviously it was only Norwich but he looked more like the Gomez of old plus that was a fantastic block on the saved pen

He is great him.

There's not many CBs out there who can do a stint as an effective RB or RWB.

Militao at Madrid springs to mind, I remember he was a handful when we played Porto.  Any others you can think of?

Babbel back in the day, Kounde and Azpilicueta can play CB and out wide. Alaba and Lucas Hernandez similar but from the opposite side, and whilst we’re there Maldini was world class at both LB and CB.

Nice, ok.

But, that's hallowed ground, those players cost £50m, or should do.

Gomez is silk, I can't speak highly enough of him, should be England's first choice CB.

Point taken, he did play there, though I rate Gomez higher than prime Carra.  And imagine Carra playing RB in this team...

Yeah, older Carra probably struggles with the high line. Younger Carra would be okay, though.
