Echo Ratings:

Simon Mignolet 6

Not much chance with either goal, although some might question his footwork for the first.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 5

Defensively not given much protection but bombed on regardless. First two Napoli goals came down his flank, the second after he gave the ball away.

Joel Matip 6

Couldn’t cope with Insigne when left exposed for the opener. Otherwise solid enough.

Virgil van Dijk 6

The defensive travails even affected the Dutchman, caught out when stepping forward on occasion.

Andy Robertson 6

Given a huge cheer before the game, the Scotland skipper was the best Liverpool defender if still nowhere near his level.

Fabinho 6

Kept play moving, particularly during the opening quarter when Liverpool dominated. Okay since then, nothing more.

Jordan Henderson 5

Dozing with dispossessed near his own area and appeared to struggle to find a position as Klopp chopped and changed his midfield.

James Milner 6

Worked hard and tried to make things happen going forward but there wasn’t any real cutting edge.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain 5

Other than gaining extra minutes, it’s clear the England man remains a long way from real first-team contention despite rotating flanks in an attempt to get him going.

Divock Origi 5

A deft touch put one early chance wide but his lost ball sparked Napoli’s opener and often hounded out.

Gini Wijnaldum 6

The left-wing experiment nowhere near as successful as against Sporting. Not much wrong but not much threat at the business end.

All our brains and creativity and threat is on holiday thanks to international football.

The bigwigs need to get their heads together and find a way to ensure that all tournaments end in time for players to have some proper rest and something approaching a proper pre season.

Ridiculous we get players with so little preparation time before season starts how are you supposed to get them up to speed and importantly build any cohesion in play/tactics etc.....which are things pre season is absolutely meant for.

If you were a new manager at a club looking to implement new tactics and formations these pre season games are gold for that crucial work to start so ready as can be for when season starts, that work is much less effective having half your team out.

I remember the good old days when you didn't get pre-season scores till the day after they happened

Now it's just hysterical fannies going apeshit over a nothing game

And chicken used to taste like chicken too

Pre-season, three-quarter pace, non-tackling style football doesn't suit us particularly when most of our star players are not available.  When we're not closing down or bombing down the wings at full-pace we're never going to be creating much and are vulnerable to the break whenever we lose possession.

I thought we couldn't find a worse transfer window than the Diouf, Diao et al but I think we've gone and done it. And we've done it by spending fuck all.

To be fair I'd have rather we spent fuck all that Summer.

Spot on. Hope they kick the shit out of us second half.
