Especially as we have one of the best in the world so he'd only ever play domestic cup games.

Alisson has had some bad luck with injuries, so it's not unrealistic for our number 2 to get a handful of league/European games next season. And we need to prepare for that so it doesn't cost us again.

I agree with you, and hope we do. I just meant from Krul's point of view. Surely at this stage of his career he'll want to be playing every week.

We seem to have, over the last decade...two decades even, just neglected the standard decent 35+ year old back up keeper route. A Cudicini type signing. That's what we need. Someone at the stage of their career where they can accept being back, but they're still good enough and professional enough that when called upon they're not going to do anything fucking stupid. We just need solid as back up.

Personally think Adrian will be fine as back up for another season. Yeah, he made a few errors, most notably against A Madrid in the CL but he has been decent enough cover when called upon and played really well at times. The drop off in class between Alisson and any back up keeper will be noticeable. We have other back up areas we need to strengthen in which are a higher priority imo, especially cover for Robbo and at CB, we have been extremely lucky that VVD is a monster and played nearly every game.

For the love of god, stop looking backwards, please!

If Adrian isnt considered good enough back up, I dont want the club bringing in someone who is worse, the same or even slightly better.

Reina was a great servant for the club but his time has passed.

Reina is a curious case of a goalkeeper who peaked in his mid-20s. Is he retiring this year? If he is Villa's 3rd choice then he's presumably at Championship level at best now, in which case is it really worth it?

Adrian's position should really be untenable. CL/FA Cup errors were catastrophic. Need someone stable for that bench role.

Fuck off Sheffield, you shit bastards. What was the keeper doing there.

Terrible defending by Stevens and Robinson as well. Robinson didn't have anyone to mark and should be rushing out to the danger area instead of just standing there. Bit of a shit game which was made exciting by the sheer amount of defensive errors. Like Dandyman says, SU have completely gone off the boil since the restart and are in free fall. All the other semi finalists will be hoping they draw arsenal in the semi.
