Klopp: Lallana can adapt to new midfield role

Lallana gives the ball away far more than Fabinho - about three times as often over the years he has been at LFC - granted he was playing further forward but he is about even with where Coutinho was with that stat and people used to think he was bad.

He also couldn't win a header in an under 12 game -- one thing Fabinho has done very well.

He won't be a DM. His job won't be to tackle anyone.

His sole job will be to distribute the ball, which is why Klopp highlighted "It must be a very dominant game, by the way, but he can play".

To some degree I see the logic in that. And I do agree he’s useful on the ball, his technique and close control is second to none. But I maintain my view that he takes too much risk, and is to weak defensively both on the ground and in the air, to play that deep. Even the weaker teams in the PL are very dangerous on the break, and the deepest midfielder plays a vital role in denying them those opportunities.

We’ll see I guess, I reckon it wont be many games where Klopp will even consider this option, as Lallana will probably struggle to stay fit, and if he does both Fabinho and Wijnaldum will be far better options in the deepest position.
