Klopp: We will see about left-back position

Jurgen Klopp is still considering the idea of signing a back-up left-back to Andy Robertson in the summer transfer window.

Speaking after Liverpool's 3-1 victory over Bradford in their second pre-season game on Sunday, the manager alluded to the fact that he is still making up his mind in this regard.

The discussion relating to cover for Robertson has become more relevant in recent times with the Scottish captain having his return to competitive action delayed by a surgical procedure on his hand due to an infection.

Sky Sports reported Klopp as saying:

" We will see. It's not a yes, not a no.

"I have said already we have to think about everything and at the end maybe we do nothing.

"I can imagine we have a look at all the things around us.

"Of course, we lost a left-back (in Moreno) but today we saw two pretty young ones in (Adam Lewis and Yasser Larouci) and James (Milner) played it. We will see."

Klopp also discussed a possible change of roles for one of his proven favourites in Adam Lallana playing in the deep-lying midfield position.

"Adam is the kind of player he can play that and he enjoys this 'Jorginho' role - I hope Maurizio Sarri doesn't see the games or he will make an offer.

"But most importantly, Klopp said the main thing in relation to Lallana is keeping him fit on a regular basis which has been much easier said than done in recent times.

"It is about getting Adam rhythm, bringing him in early and doing things he is naturally good at - small spaces, passing the ball, and then from time-to-time offering the runs in behind as well and together with Milly (Milner) that is possible.

"For us, it is another option.

"He needs a bit of luck, as we all do in life.

"We have to come through (pre-season) without injuries, that would be cool, and then we have a couple of new players, I would say, this season."
