Live TV versus streaming

Just thinking then, apart from the footy, the last thing I can remember watching live on the tele was the Halloween Inside No 9 special last year. I don’t watch any reality shows or soaps or shit like that and pretty much just stream everything as and when I want to watch it. I’m 100% streaming at this point. Even any BBC stuff I’ll just watch on the iPlayer

What is the ratio for the rest of you? I’d imagine Tony is 100% the other way and hasn’t even got a colour TV never mind a streaming device.

Ha ha. I don’t watch loads of television, certainly not as much as I did ten or twenty years ago. I binned Sky off about a decade ago, as their prices were/are a joke. I’ve got a standard Fire Stick but still watch live television. I’ve been watching Gentleman Jack on BBC One. I watch Pointless and The Chase most days and Emmerdale and Coronation Street (always loved soaps). To be honest, I prefer the convenience of streaming.

I only use TV for live sport, if there's any on, which is less and less these days, and the odd programme. Although those odd programmes are also getting less and less as you can always catch them on the various players or streaming sites weather paid for or not. I used to watch soaps sporadically but let's be honest, they are so far away from real life it's laughable. Not one fucking murder, Rape or severe beating has happened on our street in the 10 years we've lived here or the street before that in the 15 years we lived there. Plus no fucker has turned into a Michelin star chef or Mechanic overnight. Each to their own, but why watch something that is never ending and takes up every evening at a set time. Fuck that. Reality TV is absolute pants and family shows are just filled with the same old crap celebrities instead of normal folk.

A few years ago I'd say it was 50/50, last year 70/30 in favour of streaming and now I'd say streaming 98% Live TV 2%

If it wasn't for football wouldn't have sky. But working my shifts that I do(nights) I don't have much choice as I can hardly be caught using streaming sites on the works WiFi. Others so it but fuck getting caught and losing my job if they audit it. I'm the only fucker on site and have to personally log in to get access.

The only thing I've watched non sport in months I futurama and Simpson reruns which I'll stick on when I get into work to kill time occasionally

I have been watching a bit of Eurosport lately,African footy and probably a bit of Tour de France and I've watched a bit of that FreeSports channel too. But the thing I use the telly for mostly is to attach my firestick and watch Netflix, otherwise it's everything else on my laptop. About 95% streaming these days.

Tony's missus bought him a mobile phone but he still insists on carrying his house phone around the streets with him.

Watch live sport and news. Record most stuff I want to watch.

Try to avoid catch-up, because I thought we left speeds like that in the dial-up era.

What is catch-up? iPlayer, ITV Hub, etc.?

I stream iPlayer and ITV Hub to my television and have never had any problems with them.

That's exactly what catch-up is, aye.

They're fine if you're watching online or through the mobile app, but woe betide you if you attempt to watch them through the box.

As for BBC's red button, you probably have time to make a cuppa while waiting for it to load.
