If we do this one, we should do something similar to the La Liga one - either 3 max from each of France and Belgium or just 6 max from the two combined. In fact, the latter would probably be better.

You aren’t penalised. You are free to choose whoever you want and other people are free to judge however they want. This isn’t hard.

 

I think a limit of six for France/Belgium may be a bit too low. Of the other teams on the list you are only going to realistically be able to pick players from Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Senegal and Switzerland apart from the odd player.

Limit of 6 French players then. No restrictions on any other countries. There aren't that many top Belgians anyway, but there would need to be a restriction on France.

Yeah there’s no point someone doing all the research in picking a player if the others won’t return the courtesy in judging that player. So yeah essentially penalised.

The thing is though - they're easy picks in a sense. It's easy to pick a player late in the game who you can pretty much predict more than half of the people playing aren't going to pick regardless and then go to their Wikipedia page and post a list of their achievements and act like they're the best thing since sliced bread.

 

Maybe the way to get round this in future non-time-limited drafts is to say that everybody has to have one player (and only one) who played before a certain year and that way the actual picking of these players becomes a competitive endeavour. Or something along those lines.

 

So, say in this one you had to pick someone who debuted before 1960 or whatever - all of a sudden those picks become meaningful.

If you pick an ex Utd player, lets say Evra, some people won’t vote for you. It’s just the way it is. People have their own prejudices against different things.

 

On the other hand you might get someone like Tony who knows a lot about the older players and votes for you for that reason.

I've picked plenty of older players in various drafts. I know it'll cost me picks too. It is what it is. I do think alot of them don't get the respect they deserve but so what. It's more about creating the team than votes

Yeah, I’m not arsed about votes. I enjoy picking players and building a team. I choose, whenever possible, players that I’d enjoy watching.
