One of the greatest films of all time came out on this day in 1975.

Your husband's fine, Mrs. Brody. He's fishing. He's just caught a couple of stripers. We'll bring 'em in for dinner. We won't be long, we haven't seen anything yet. Over and out.

Why was it called Jaws though? Surely it would have been better to have called it Teeth as they are what causes the real damage?

Nooooo. Have you not seen 2007's 'Teeth' ?

Showed it over here a couple of years back. Big screen over the water, everyone watching it bobbing around on boats.

They were supposed to be doing it on the Albert Dock this summer but for some reason they have removed Jaws from the listings

When it was originally screened in France the critics somehow missed the beginning so when it finished they all thought it was called Fin . .

So it was released under that name for a few weeks.  True story

In one of my greatest moments I took my missus to see the 4K version at the cinema a few years back & asked the boy at the ticket counter what it was about.

Oh how we laughed.

I actually think Jaws 2 is brilliant too.

The USS Indianapolis speech is one of the best scenes in cinematic history. Robert Shaw nails it, and you can see why Spielberg needed that moment. The story behind it, with Shaw shaving down a longer John Milius script is good too.

One of my favourite caps has Quint's Shark Fishing on it.

They definitely should have stopped there. To think the third one had Michael Caine in it.

Nope not even heard of that. I'm guessing that's a set of teeth that's rotten?

That was the fourth one.

The third one was '3D' & had Dennis 'worse than Nicholas Cage' Quaid in it.

They made four? Wow. Maybe the third one wasn't that bad then.

Yeah Jaws 2 gets a bad rap but its ace. Third one is ok, 4 is just shite.

Wouldn't go as far as fucking awful mate. Just ok I reckon. They should have got Scheider back on board but he turned it down.

Was the third one released with red and green glasses? Had to be a pisstake.

No not having that. I hated it. 1 and 2 are great, 1 being my 2nd favourite film of all time.
