I've always wondered why none of the players touched it before a match. They've got to earn the right. Brilliant from Jurgen.

I thought it was a bit silly myself, but reading that article reminded me what a superstitious bunch of hoors footballers are. Rule 1: Jurgen is always right. Rule 2: if in doubt, refer to Rule 1.

New players presumably won't be able to touch it. Good incentive for them although they will feel excluded I would have thought.

I actually think it's brilliant. They might feel excluded but in a way that will be motivating, I would think.
