Repairing a hard drive

Recommended Posts

My laptop died this week. Same sob story everyone has - years worth of work, my entire business activity, photo etc all bollocksed.

I've got the hard drive and someone's lent me a hard drive caddy which I've been able to attach with a USB to a spare laptop. I appear to be able to access some standard looking operational files but not any of my data. I've followed instructions about "looks like there's an error on this drive, click here to scan and repair" and although it scans it says there's a problem and it can't fix it.

In short, is there some software I can use to repair the drive?
