What were you most wrong about with this team?

This was a huge one for me. Ridiculous in hindsight.

Yeah, I'm almost ashamed. I knew he was good, but he's just one or two levels above the second best CBs in the world.

But at the time it looked like we dropped him that summer, and who knew if he would actually arrive in January? That we pulled it off was excellent work from all involved.

Midfield not being good enough, us not getting a CB when the VVD bid was rejected, not to mention how mental 75mil was for a centre half, the impact of the Brain leaving, Firmino not being good enough, the Robertson buy being another sign of our fall from grace as a club, Oxlade a poor choice for midfield, the effect of the Coutinho sale, Klopp not able to manage games, not enough nous in the team, and us being too nice to win.

But, to be fair, you've been pretty much spot on otherwise.

Lack of game management and shithousery.

I noticed it a few times yesterday and in the Barcelona game. Matip leaving his foot in against Kane. Milner getting into Messi and getting under his skin.

Plus, throw ins and corners yesterday. The early goal meant we could play a bit more reserved. And we slowed it right down for set pieces. The wonderful, European Cup winning, shithouse, time wasting Reds!

I was wrong about Hendo. Not about when I criticised his game at times, but about questioning his ability as a captain, and as a leader.

watching him lift that trophy was terrific, and he rightly has his place alongside our previous European cup winning captains.

the way the players celebrated WITH him, the way each - especially the young lads - sought him out afterwards to hug and congratulate him.

hes MY CAPTAIN.

Hendo. Not something I've really commented on, more of a feeling I've had for a while.

I liked him at first, but thought he'd be better as a type of wide midfielder putting crosses in. Then I spent quite a while being unsure, until I just didn't think we were strong enough in midfield with him. After watching the Barca match that ended and am chuffed for him, especially after what he's gone through since being captain, but also because of what the team have been through generally and the finals we lost in recent years.

I think being made captain might have set him back for a while. Maybe it was a bit too much pressure at the time, if so am glad that's now over.

He was our best midfield in the final. He was also immense against Bayern at Anfield. Didn’t he boss it at home against PSG too? The bigger then occasion the better he is, or so it seems.

Not sure about a lot of what happened this season really because I missed so much of it. Didn't watch us from the start then we went on an unbeaten run in the league and I didn't want to watch us in fear of it being the first match we lost or something. Can't remember the home Bayern game, but can remember the away game and thinking it was amazing.
