I get the feeling this has been lined up for a long time

Yeah, I had the same thought last night when again remembering Linjders was at Salzburg(and might well be sacked by his ex soon to be current boss), it's a little to convenient.

Breaking News: Man Gets Job.

It's not quite as simple as that though. Top German manager takes job with organisation being held largely responsible by German fans for fucking up their ownership structure that allows fan involvement in their clubs. Like allowing their beer brewers to add larger amounts of water,I suppose.

By the way, all power to him. You can espouse good values, be a decent caring person and also love money. And he clearly loooooves money. But it will hurt his image in Germany, no doubt.

This is the part I feel a bit sad about, I liked the way he was revered at all his old clubs. Not something I'll lose sleep over mind, just a bit sad.

I don't know. Leipzig get a really bad rap, and yeah they've had help, but ultimately it's a big city (around 500k, like Liverpool) and RB have an intelligent structure that develops talent, rather than buys success.

So many people feel okay with Wrexham, when that's a town about the size of Paignton with a Billionaire spending their way up the leagues.

Hopefully, it's a good job for a year or so before he gives the national team a go.

He'll be German national manager in 12 months.

I was certain he'd take a job in Spain, working his magic at somewhere like Athletic or Betis. This has the vibe of waiting for something though. He can drop this role at literally a moment's notice which he couldn't do to a club. He's keeping himself occupied until the German job becomes available.

I'm not sure how this behind the scenes stuff will scratch the itch for him. He'll effectively be a corporate executive. He isn't short of a few quid, has never given the impression that's a big motivator for him either. I just don't really see why he'd be excited by this.

For Red Bull maybe getting some one who’s said they’d ran out of energy back in the game ( as has been pointed out) was too good a marketing opportunity and they made him a daft offer. For all my judgement everyone has a price.

It is for me. German fans are welcome to feel however they want.

Fair enough. I am very disappointed that he chose this route out of all those available to him. He's obviously German so his actions tie in with his home country and make news. I loved him as a manager but I am not tribal enough to not call out his decision as a football supporter. I like what the Germans have had in place and hope they can hold on to what they have. As for Red Bull,it's not that they own just Leipzig it's their whole corporate structure of owning a number of clubs which many people object to,myself included.

PS NV,this is not really aimed at your view specifically but just an outline of why I think it's a poor move in general for Klopp and the wider game.

Does Klopp object to it?  If he does then I can see the hypocrisy.

He's apparently in every commercial imaginable. That doesn't give you the impression that he likes money?

Even the moderately talented Ange Postecoglou seems to have attracted a significant cult following, lured in by his outsider status, his fortune-cookie wisdom, his immaculate good-bloke vibes.

Made me chuckle.
