I went to the final in Rome in 84 (got bricked by the Roma fans like everyone else) but didnt go in 85. In those days there wasnt wall to wall tv coverage of the European finals so instead was upstairs listening to the build up on Radio Merseyside.

I held my head in my hands as I heard the story unravelling. I couldnt believe such a situation would happen with our fans. I remember coming down and saying to wifey I didnt think the game would go ahead because of the 'riot' and unconfirmed deaths in the stadium.

A truely bad day, no excuses. Like the people of Hillsborough, we should never forget the 39 people who died and the families left behind.

It's one of my earliest memories, sitting in the living room with my family waiting for the game to come on. Me and my brother were then told to go out and play footy instead which seemed a bit strange but when you're that small you don't really take much notice. Not sure many 5 year olds would be told to go and play footy outside at 8pm on a week night these days.

A dark day for the club, and football in general. RIP.

I know it's a very sensitive issue, but do we as a club do anything to mark our respects?

We put a wreath on the plaque on the SKD stand and always have a page up on the offal site as a remembrance.
