The Supreme Court has voted to strike down Roe v. Wade, according to an initial draft majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito and obtained by POLITICO. “We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled,” Alito writes.

Utterly disgraceful! That country is stepping back to the 19th century, it'll be fucking ducking stools and slavery next, wankers.

Biden needs to pick his head out of his arsehole, and end this shambles over abortion. No way should religious fundamentalists be calling the shots over the rights of women to have control of their own bodies. All this will do is force abortions underground again, and lead to unnecessary deaths!

As soon as Trump got the supreme court in his favour this was going to happen.

Chris Hedges has been predicting this for years. Their aim is a far right, plutocratic Christian theocracy and they're getting closer and closer to it.

Scary times.

So basically Gilead? Margaret Atwood is a clever woman!

I think they have a Women’s Health Bill that would bring in protection by law, so the Supreme Court decision would be moot, but the Republicans and that twat Steve Manchin are blocking it.
Could be wrong though.

Despicable shithouses! Fucking basket case of a country.

I fucking hate religious fundamentalism in any form, and these bastards are the masters of it.

Ginsburg really should have stepped down when Obama was president and the democrats really should not have nominated Clinton over Bernie in 2016.

Trump is going to win in 2024 and I still think he would have won re-election if not for Covid.

This is going to cause chaos.

I'm not sure where to start, but ultimately this will bring a few massive, atomic, issues to a head.

Blacks next? Perhaps the abolition of slavery was based on 'bad law' and should be for states to determine?

Religious zealots, and there's a lot of them, are going to get violent and angry as they face-off against women involved in protesting, who themselves are going to be angry and violent.

Probably, though he's liable to say something mad to scupper it.  He may not even bother campaigning, they know they can just wheel him out at a monster truck rally and wave.

Trump is lucky he's not prez at the moment, otherwise the Putin questions would be tricky.

He got elected after boasting about abusing his power to sexually assault women.

I don't think there's anything he could say that his cult followers wouldn't lap up.

Ironically its entire founding principle is the separation of church and state, yet every major decision they make is based on religious doctrine.

There's a chapter in Freakanomics which basically reckoned crime fell in the 90s in the States because abortion laws had kicked in decades before.

Religious extremism has always had a hand in America's worst ideas. There was literally no such thing as organized crime before prohibition.

The fuck? If you use a rubber you could be charged with murder because you're stopping your tadpoles becoming babies.

......

The Republican governor of Mississippi has refused to rule out attempting to ban some forms of contraception if the supreme court ruling that guarantees the right to abortion should fall.

How come banning your kid from owning a howitzer is impinging on your freedoms but telling you can't wear a nodder when you're busting a nut isn't? It's almost like American conservatism is just a front for making money and keeping poor people down.

I think it might have already started once he decided he was buying twitter. 94mil followers though, more damage for the Dems when midterms arrive I guess.

The most tedious man alive. You would think all the women he entices with his money would give him the hug his father clearly never gave him.
