Assange Arrested

Recommended Posts

Important point from the ACLU :

Quote

Any prosecution by the United States of Mr. Assange for Wikileaks’ publishing operations would be unprecedented and unconstitutional, and would open the door to criminal investigations of other news organizations. Moreover, prosecuting a foreign publisher for violating U.S. secrecy laws would set an especially dangerous precedent for U.S. journalists, who routinely violate foreign secrecy laws to deliver information vital to the public's interest.

Little doubt the wiki leak stuff helping Trump into office was a attempt to get the charges dropped imo. Hopefully they retaliate and drop a few bombshells. Doubt it they'll probably give Trump any dirt for a lighter sentence

Wasn’t doing his chores properly in the embassy by all accounts. They snapped and booted him out after he inexplicably loaded the dishwasher with knives pointed upwards and mixed big spoons with little spoons in the same compartment.

Inexcusable. Hang the bastard.

If Sweden doesn't reinstate rape charges, it's up to the US to charge him with something, as I understand.

Yep.  I'm sure this means we'll give them access to question him, but it really should be a question of the rape charge (as well as failing to meet the bail conditions - which is a crime in it's own right, and it would be wrong to ignore it just because of his status) and then - and only then - whether the US have a case to request extradition.  That last bit is the dodgy ground.

Abbot made it quite clear that he should answer for any of the Swedish sex charges but that it looks that he is being arrested simply for the benefit of the USA because he has shone a light on their extremely dodgy goings on.

He’s been arrested because he broke the law.  He needs to answer for that. Then hopefully the women he’s accused of assaulting will get justice.

Obviously he’s helped Trump, so it’ll be fun trying to contort the way through that.

To be honest, I'm really disappointed that in seven years he never tried a helicopter escape from the roof of the embassy.

Could've channelled his inner Hans Grueber:

"When they touch down, we'll blow up the roof, they'll spend a month sifting through rubble, and by the time they work out what went wrong, we'll be sitting on a beach, earning twenty percent.”
