Let’s not build up the 2 on 1 too much. I think VVD is the best all round defender I have seen - and I’m old enough to have seen Bobbie Moore and jockey (of course) - but what he did in that circumstance is straight out of the text book. Sissoko has two options; cut out one of them and then, having made his mind up for him, close him down as far as possible. He did it brilliantly; just hope the knock he took in the process doesn’t keep him out on Friday. 

 

Shame he isn’t as dominant in the other penalty area; I thought he had two good chances to score with his head, missing one (that hit Bobbie) and putting the second wide. But he scores more often than Moore or Hanson.

I don’t think the ball was moving. I’ve watched it loads of times now and while I don’t think it had stopped for long, I do think it had stopped.

 

Hendersons first instinct should’ve bee to slow down the free kick given where it was and that they’d been on the counter, but he did get swept up in the moment, like he always does.

 

great win though and it was the best part of a day that included me winning at scrabble in the morning and having a fire in the back garden listening to music and drinking beer after my tea.
